Talk to me about your fog lights! What do you like? What do you wish was different?

Friendly neighborhood Maverick community,

I’ve had my heart set on fog lights even before I got my Mav.

I know there’s a ton of options. The light fixture itself seems pretty straightforward.

I’m really interested in how you’ve set the lights up and what you’ve done in the interior. Do they come on automatically or dim when there’s approaching cars, like the headlights? Do you have a dedicated toggle switch? Where and what’s it look like? Anything else I should know or ask about?

I don’t think I have the technical knowledge to do the install myself. So when I go into the shop I’m hoping to have some good descriptions and photos for reference to share.

I have a ‘24 Lariat hybrid.

Diode Dynamics makes a mostly "plug and play" setup for your truck, but you can incorporate what Antonio documented in the link above for an OEM-looking install.

If you'd be fine with a simpler approach, many fog light installs have already been posted and you can read up on them using the search function here:

The Diode Dynamics SS3's are the best fog lights I've had on any vehicle I've owned. I can't speak for their Maverick-specific kit, but I'm sure it's of similar quality.

You will Never Be Sorry with any Diode Dynamics products! Great company, awesome products. They won't be the cheapest solution but their quality and reliability is top notch. Quality products are rarely the cheapest, like anything else, you get what you pay for.

The OEM fog lights (Lobo) won’t let you turn them on during the day if your headlights are set to “auto”. Just fyi…

If you “mod” them to use as amber DRL’s - headlights must be set to “on”…

You can run them with the clearance lights.

I am very happy with the Diode Dynamix on my 2023 XLT Lux Hybrid. It does take a bit of work to install them though. You have to remove the grill and bumper cover. It can be done in the driveway, but not in an hour. The results are great though.

Diode Dynamics SSC2 amber fog lights on my '24 Tremor. Installed using now-defunct JJC brackets. Lights are phenomenal!

I might also have a few more DD lights installed here and there.

You can run them with the clearance lights.

“Clearance Lights” are Parking Lights?

I only turn them on while driving. When off, I think they look better than the fog lights

While I'm a big fan of Diode Dynamics fog lights system for the Maverick, here's a different look you might like and it's about 1/3 the cost and I didn't need to remove the bumper.

If you do the F150 switch and power your fog lights from the BCM, be sure to consider enabling the cornering lamp function for them. I use it and think it's pretty slick.
