This telematics fuse: is this the one that collects data that is then sold to insurance companies? Ive been reading a lot about that kind of thing being prevalent in new cars. As the maverick is the first car I've bought built in this century, it makes me nervous that my driving data is being sold without my permission.....

DFW area and was arrested in his motel in Oklahoma within 2-3 hours thanks to OnStar reporting his cars position.
If this is true this adds some validity to the OP initial question.

I saw option in trucks menu to select insurance data to NOT be submitted. Don't remember where.

The main problem is you were from out of state, are you going to travel back to fight it, they know most won't. It's best to pay the fine, if you fail to do that, don't travel to Virginia again. I have personally removed fuse 11 a few months into ownership, makes me feel a bit better about privacy.

I know this is off topic but speeding and hyper-miling are often incompatible with each other. In general, you always get better mileage when you go slower...

At 10 over he could have been going 40.

So fuse 11 is a dual circuit. Do both circuits supply the TCM? If not what else is not powered?
F11 in Maverick is just the TCU (on Escape F11 is TCU and Power Liftgate)

Earlier this year I was driving through a rural part of Virginia to visit my daughter which is known to have speed traps and got a ticket. The speed limit frequently changes from 35 to 55 etc. on this stretch of road. At the time, my wife’s iphone was connected by wire and we were using google maps. I’m a bit of a “hyper-miler” and try not to lose momentum, but usually don’t go above 10 mph over the speed limit. I was driving for 10 - 15 minutes past where I supposedly was speeding when the cop pulled me over. It got me thinking about my location and speed data being sent to the officer. Does anyone know if this data is being sent? I know there’s GPS signal at least being received because I can see my direction (NE, SW etc.) on the dash when driving. If so, is there a way to turn off data transfer to the po-po without voiding the warranty?
I believe Ford only shares detailed info with insurance companies through LexisNexis and that may require an opt in. They can share aggregate info (like 70% of driving by maverick drivers happens during the day and fords are piled up at this interstate in rush hour in NYC, etc).

Might be worth challenging the ticket. That depends though. If points are a thing you are worried about or have, with that distance they may only be able to confirm it was your vehicle, but not that it was you in the car when spotted speeding. Might be worth filing and asking for the speed measurement method and accuracy and data too.

Your cell phone is far more likely to be used by law enforcement than data from your vehicle.
Time to eliminate cell phone use.

The ticket has already been taken care of and was a major PITA. I didn’t want to get points on my license (and pay more insurance for the next 3 years), so I retained a lawyer from the Virginia county where I received the ticket. He advised I get a record of my license from NC DMV (it’s clean) and get a speedometer calibration done (to prove it’s slightly inaccurate). With all that, he was able to get the ticket removed from my record. Between the lawyer fees, court fees, speedo calibration, and license record it cost about $500. Ouch!

Weird. I as you said you got pulled over 15 later.? What took him so long to catch you? How do they know it was you miles away from the scene of the crime? I'd fight it. I'm sure if you want ,you can request the details. Let us know what happens. Good luck.

Virginia is a state that always pull over "out of state vehicles" and, gives you a ticket, knowing you won't show up at court to fight it. Just send in your $200 check, and be more careful of your speed. They also let your state know that they gave you a speeding ticket.

It seems odd but I've played a little with hypermiling years ago for fun. I sped WAY more when hypermiling. Every hill, on the way down, flick it into neutral and I'd be coasting and building up as much speed as I could then coast as much as I could the way up forget braking to stay within the speed limit.

Same coming into lower speed limit zones, keep it up as long as you could or when going through an area that went 55 to 45 then back to 55, just keep your speed flat.

And 47 mph or so was my most efficient speed in my Cooper (low RPM driving at good speed vs. wind resistance effect) , so if the speed limit is 35 mph, well...
