Earlier this year I was driving through a rural part of Virginia to visit my daughter which is known to have speed traps and got a ticket. The speed limit frequently changes from 35 to 55 etc. on this stretch of road. At the time, my wife’s iphone was connected by wire and we were using google maps. I’m a bit of a “hyper-miler” and try not to lose momentum, but usually don’t go above 10 mph over the speed limit. I was driving for 10 - 15 minutes past where I supposedly was speeding when the cop pulled me over. It got me thinking about my location and speed data being sent to the officer. Does anyone know if this data is being sent? I know there’s GPS signal at least being received because I can see my direction (NE, SW etc.) on the dash when driving. If so, is there a way to turn off data transfer to the po-po without voiding the warranty?
