Your area may vary but the percentage is probably the same.

That why the Hybrid is popular.

I've said for years, that i'd be all over it if anyone came out with a Hybrid pickup. I love the cargo capability of a truck at any size. I don't haul much at all, BUT when I want to or need to, I can.
Wife bought the Fusion Hybrid in 2011, and it's been a great vehicle. When she upgraded to an Edge Titanium in 2017, I sold my 2006 F150, took the Fusion over.
I'm 97% urban driving, not even long distance by any means, and the Hybrid feature is giving me an amazing 40.6 MPG at 95,000 miles.
I'm retired, and filling up the tank every say 8-10 weeks, well, need I say how nice that is?
So I'm only considering the Hybrid Maverick as my choice, per my circumstances.

shoot, 3 dollars a day is 3 dollars a day. A lot of people that say that they don't care about MPG fuss and moan every time gas price fluctuates up.
I think many people are too short-term minded when it comes to money. When I say $3/day, most people tend to brush that off. What I should've said was $1000/year. That tends to make people realize the difference.

At one point fracking was profitable down to something like 30 or 40 a barrel. It sets the defacto floor for oil provided they are allowed to drill. Allowed.
Maybe consider that fracking is dangerous to our health? I mean, I'm not crazy about the idea of lighting my drinking water on fire. Cheap gas doesn't mean a thing if you can't go anywhere because of your health.

Some folks here are buying their first truck .
You won’t be sorry. When I got my first pickup years ago-I quickly discovered the delicious freedom of just tossing stuff in the bed without worrying about the trunk carpets. Or God forbid..some kerosene drips on it.
When I take yard waste to the compost dump I get a kick out of watching folks cautiously taking trash cans full of weeds out of their van or suv. Then sweeping the floor.
Trust me..you will love your first truck!
,and after caring something stinky you don't need to drive around with the windows rolled down for a week.

Why so much interest in the hybrid? Just curious. Lower hp. Is mpg difference that important to many? Or is it cost?
For me, Gas prices in so cal hovering close to 5.00 a gallon. MPG makes a huge difference.

If your knowledge of the issues comes from scary youtube videos you should really try talking to people in the industry.

I will be either keeping my old 4wd half ton or getting a newer 3/4 ton that is 4wd. For what it is, I figure that the XL hybrid fwd will fit my needs for a commuter and when it isn’t crappy and snowy out. Gets better mileage than the Eco.

It doesn't. It comes from objective sources and common sense. People in the industry have a vested interest in the success of the industry. I take what they'd have to say with a grain of salt.

I agree . It was already noted that the Hybrids main advantage was for city driving. The first 20 miles on the electric motor before the gas kicks in. In suburbia where I live you won see the 40MPG according to what I'm reading.
A plug in hybrid can work that way - the first X miles on electric, or some let you choose if you want full electric or full gas or full hybrid. A hybrid like the mav doesn't work that way. There is a mix of gas and battery. It doesn't go X miles on electric and then switch over to gas.

The hybrid gets 33 highway. The eco boost is rated 28 or 29. So even worst performing against best performing mpg the hybrid is 15% more efficient. All things being equal, you are right. Better to have it than not. But they’re not equal. There is an upfront cost and an ongoing cost to eco boost, towing capacity, off road capability. If those costs are worth it to you, great. If not, great. But making up shit is dumb. Personally, I’m happy to not pay 8k over 5 years for something I’m likely never to need. I’d rather rent the capability if I do.
Not as bad as someone that thinks they know it all. I have always been able to get better than EPA on any non-hybrid vehicle since hybrids are always pumped up AND have crappy hard rubber tires to squeeze even more into the estimate. So keep your uneducated opinions that you pull out of you backside to yourself kitty boy.
