I have read MOST of the posts, I think people are thinking very narrowly here, Ford made a big mistake by not making cars and just focusing on suvs and Trucks. They do not have an entry-level vehicle(the ecosport was a POS from the start. Ford needed an extry level vehicle, and that is what the maverick is, it has 4 doors, gets fantastic MPG and they are supporting it with awesome financing options.

I made a mistake in not ordering a hybrid because in the first announcements, of it's availability, the transmission it was mated to, was called a CVT. I have driven a lot of CVT's for work and I am not a fan. So I did not consider a hybrid for that reason. In no way should the transmission be called a CVT. Now I see some call the trans a eCVT. Even that does not properly describe the transmission. There are no belts or pullies only gears, big gears that would make a Mack truck jealous. The transmission that is used has been around in a similar form for years and Ford has had plenty of time to improve it so I would take a hybrid in a heartbeat.

Man, you must drive somewhere very different than me. I don’t think I have ever had a hard time merging in any car in any place I’ve lived. Not in my 15 year old 1977 Corolla in Seattle, my 12 year old Toyota Echo in New York, Indianapolis, Phoenix, or anywhere else. I can outpace people trying to deliberately cut me off in my 7 year old Leaf when I’m getting on the shortest on-ramp here in Albuquerque, and the hybrid is 2 seconds faster to 60.
There are a couple of particularly bad merges I am remembering, one in philly the other in brooklyn. The thing is, if you aren't familiar with a given road, you might suddenly find yourself on a short merge into heavy, high speed traffic. The ecoboost isn't an inefficient engine either. It's amazing how much engines have improved.

Hopefully I’ll have my maverick in early January then I’ll have 2 hybrids I also have a Mach E I’m all set for the high gas prices 😂

Of course if that 100 miles is mostly highway (I'd guess it is), then the advantage is much smaller if not non-existent if you go above normal highway speeds. At 75 mph I would bet the Turbo gets better mileage than the Hybrid.
I agree . It was already noted that the Hybrids main advantage was for city driving. The first 20 miles on the electric motor before the gas kicks in. In suburbia where I live you won see the 40MPG according to what I'm reading.

Don't you think this whole motor/engine thing is a bit distracting?

I know, I know... it's an internal combustion engine and an electric motor.

But people use the terms interchangeably all the time. Motorway, motoring, Texas Motor Speedway, etc. It doesn't affect the validity (or lack thereof) of what they are saying. If someone says the gas motor does this and the electric motor does that, we all know what they are talking about.
Of course people use the terms interchangeability. I was just being an ass because Mr. Know It All seems to think that the 2.0EB is a bad engine and anyone who buys one is a fool.

I'd go hybrid if it had AWD. It's a necessity out here. I'd want to lift it a bit, though.
I originally ordered a Hybrid but with all the things making wait times so long I switched to the 2.0 because I sold my 5 year old truck to buy this and my 2nd car is old and was afraid it wouldn't last and the 2.0 s Would be faster to get. Picked up my Maverick a week ago and my dealer told me the Hybrids could take till April. So all in all I'm happy with it getting over 27 mpg in town in the suburbs plus still don't know if I'd have been happy with 2WD. Winters have been rough here.

For me I live in an area that driving 10 miles is a trip. Usually 2-3 miles with traffic lights. So lots of stop and go.

Use to live where 10-15 miles one way was the norm multiple times a day. Speeds were 45-55 regularly so a hybrid was not as attractive. Just figured I would give it a try.
We have a hybrid Kia Niro and have averaged 46 mpg over the past 3.5 yrs./59,000 miles. If you don't need a heavy load trailer, you'll love a hybrid.

For me, its about the inevitable of more EV and also I listened to the videos of the turbos and I hate the sound of the engine. Too noisy.

Why so much interest in the hybrid? Just curious. Lower hp. Is mpg difference that important to many? Or is it cost?
Mpg… I’ve owned 2 hybrids since 2007

Superior cost of ownership. Also potential for the hybrid outlast the Ecoboost.

Like the price and fuel efficiency of the hybrid. For towing or more payload, I'm keeping my 2016 Expedition. In fact, another reason I am getting the mav is to put fewer miles on the Expedition. When I am "done" with the Expedition, in 2031, I don't think I'll be able to buy a gas-powered full size SUV with 9200 lb towing capacity for $50,000.
Also think the Maverick is a good looking vehicle if ordered right. American vehicle and (sigh) at least it's assembled in North America!! ]
As for people reporting 30mpg with their Ecoboost... sure, I believe it. If you know how to drive for high-mileage, it's possible. I reset my mpg on my expedition a couple of days ago and I'm at 24.2 mpg. Cruise control at 58 mph on flat roads, that's what I get.
Final observation, we are so spoiled with our horsepower. I had some cars in the 80s and 90s with 90 to 130 hp. And four speed transmissions. In comparison, the maverick is a dirt bike!! Can't wait!

Bought a 2005 escape hybrid awd new, still driving it. Bought a new 1995 f-250 powerstroke, still driving it as well. They both have about 90,000 miles on them now. I’ll pay cash for the base xl with a hitch, spare and inverter. It has been pushed back three times now, but is scheduled to be built next week. Initial cost, mpg are factors, but in my area, the lots are empty and 10 year old 100,000 mile diesel trucks are turning for $50,000. Thought ordering this would be a decent inflation hedge. $4/gallon fuel is possible in the near future. I’ll probably wire in aftermarket cruise and a drivers seat heater. Otherwise, it already has power windows, power locks, power steering, power brakes, a/c with auto fan, automatic tranny (cvt), abs and a fancy radio. In fleet use, a hybrid will outlive a turbocharged small displacement engine.

And the loss of horsepower is of no concern because I will only call on extra horsepower when passing on a two-lane rural road, and on such a road I will be driving the turbo-charged CR-V.
If you have never driven a hybrid, it won’t take long to learn how to pass on 2 lane roads. When both gas and electric are running at the same time, you won’t have a problem.
