Happy holidays, fellow MTC fans- I wanted to share my thoughts as an early Maverick enthusiast. I waited over a year for my 2022 Maverick XLT FX4, and I'm surprised by the current pricing. I originally bought my truck for $27,000, but now I see new models priced closer to $40,000. When I recently configured my exact model with the FX4 package, the total came to $35,300—about $8,000 more than I paid in 2022.

While inflation explains some of this increase, we're in a new era of Maverick ownership. With many four-wheel-drive options available for around $45K (F150/Ranger, etc.), I'm curious if others think Maverick's pricing has affected its position in the market. I have a 2025 Tremor on order with a locked-in price of $41 K, but at that number, it is an entirely different framework when I look at what else is available for that price. Now, you truly want to have a Maverick versus buying one because that is what you can afford.

I don't understand buying a Maverick (or any vehicle) if you don't need it. Buy a Nissan Versa or a Chevy Trax if you need cheap wheels, or a used car like many of us did for years.

It is expensive, but what else is in same price category with same features?
One of the reasons I posted this is that, with current rebates and incentives, you can get a well-equipped F150 STX FX4 for around $45K. There are also 4x4 Rangers on sale, and that's just within the Ford family. While the situation may change in January, some aggressive incentives are available. Since I'm planning to spend approximately $45K, including taxes, considering other options is natural. I love the Maverick and am excited for my Tremor, but we are in a new neighborhood. Cheers.

Sometimes, people are just excited to own a new vehicle. Sure, I could buy a used vehicle or a Trax, but I saved and bought one of my first new vehicles in a long time. All I'm saying is the value proposition has changed somewhat.

The problem with the $40,000 Mavericks today is they're built the same way as the $20,000 Mavericks from 2022. There's no real additional fit and finish, just more lipstick.

At today's prices if I were looking at the top end, I'd be much more likely to buy something in the midsize category like a Colorado or Ranger. Yes, it will burn more fuel, but I don't drive much. And I gain a better interior and 4x4.

To be fair to the Maverick, even at 40k, there is no other hybrid AWD option that will get 40 mpg. That's valuable to many folks too.

Please send me the dealer link of a F150 STX FX4 Crew Cab 4x4 for $45K. I can't get close to that in my area.

Precisely. ☝☝☝☝☝
👍 Right on the money
Same cheap materials as the 2022s same fit and finish.

Even if a new F-150 was $25K, it wouldn't matter to me, because I don't want a truck that damn big. :p
Buying something that is twice as much as I need just because it is a "deal" is still illogical to me, but I understand that everyone has to justify what they think a Maverick is worth (or not worth...)

That said, if I wanted to buy a $40K vehicle, and did not need a truck, I wouldn't be shopping Mavericks, much less Fords. Maybe the real issue is that at $30K or less, the Maverick was more of a "what the hell, a truck might be interesting" choice that might capture people who wouldn't ordinarily get into a pickup of any kind. At MY25 prices, you kinda have to want a truck, specifically.

The insane price increase I agree with you. This quote is debatable. For years almost everyone complained about sync 3, using a cord, glitches and a small screen. You could aftermarket this fix with a price tag of 3000 plus, installation but used the same or same size screen. Therefore by upgrading to a larger screen and sync 4. I consider that more than just lipstick. It actually looks like Ford was listening to those complaints. Just they didn't make these changes engineering, parts, production free of charge.

Basically if they want it that bad, they must be willing to pay for it. Probably what they are thinking only time will tell, if those thoughts are true.

Looking at the demand still up, it doesn't seem they were wrong in their thinking.

I'm surprised you did not compare the cost of the tremor between the 23 vs the 24. That is by far the biggest price increase on the Maverick. Even going from 24 to 25 its a hefty if not an insane price increase.

Best of luck with your new home and new ride.

shoot, I put this in my scion tc 5 years ago, 2019. wireless CarPlay, works perfect. plays movies/shows too for passengers via my 512gb micro sd card lol. there a trick took 30 second to enable perm demo mode, ie, movies etc while moving.

500 bucks back then, still works perfect. glorious

The XL/XLT radios are problematic. I've had no real issues with Sync 3. They have lost much more money going with those radios than they would have putting Sync 3 in everything, a system that was already 5-6 years old at the time of the Maverick launch. Penny wise, pound foolish.

By fit and finish, I more mean the rest of the vehicle. The 40k Maverick has the same plastics as the 20k Mavericks in 2022. It has the same cost cutting under the hood.

And that in my opinion is the most frustrating thing about the Maverick. I really wish they shipped more refinement at 40k.
