Just in case this helps someone, my Maverick would not connect to my ASUS router using WPA2.

I could create a Guest Network and it would work fine with that, but for updates I wanted it connected to my network all the time.

In the Wireless settings, change the Wireless Mode to Legacy. It should work now.

Don't understand, I can get cheap Chinese stuff that has no problem connecting, but my expensive Ford truck has no clue.

My air fryer connects to Wi-Fi more reliably than my $34,000 Maverick. And that supposedly has the "better" infotainment.

Mine connected fine - but I went for manual entry because I has disabled anything auto on WiFi AP side.

It only connects once a day anyway - and doubtful you'll have any infotainment center updates at this point.

I won't with XLT, so disabled wifi.

Oh, the wifi module is cheap branded Google something or other according to MAC ID.

Your cheap stuff from a ChiCom controlled manufacturer connects easily, but the Ford won't connect unless you go back to a lower security level?

hmm . . .

🤔

Mine connected fine as well with WAP2 enabled …. RT-AX82U. I only do manual updates as well, about once every six months or so. Turned off auto to reduce telematics battery drain.

I have an Asus Blue Cave boxed up because it's glitchy AF and unreliable.

It might not be the truck?

😂😂😂 ‘expensive’😂😂😂
He's saying his $89 air fryer connects and reports everything that happens with no effort but the $34,089.00 maverick has to be whipped to death with a wet noodle!

Is your air fryer covered in a steel cage, and likely on the edge of your routers transmission range? 😁

Better question is, why does an air fryer need WIFI? 🤣

So it can report any and all people that comes in range with their cell phone numbers along with their contact lists. In 1972 when I was programming computers I turned down a job with damn good pay offer to verify that person using the id chip to pass checkpoint was the person the chip was issued to. Seeing the end result of potential damage, I chose to NOT be the guy that done it.

They probably think it sells better. I hooked it up to my Wi-Fi just for fun - and yes, it's as useless as you think. 😆

Ok, I’ll be blaming youse guys if a problem develops!

Reading this thread reminded me I hadn’t connected my truck to my home WiFi network (PW too obscure to remember).

So I just did, and (possibly ignorantly) then selected check for updates. Something is now downloading.

Everything WAS working just fine! Can’t wait to see after! 🤔😂

For sure, I know why companies do it, but from a buyers prescriptive there is no point in paying the extra $50 for the one with WIFI. 😉

The worst part of all the smart connected devices (like smart TVs, fridges) is how many of them are being used by bot nets to attack vital infrastructure and to steal peoples information, because manufactures are too lazy to set them up with security protocols of any kind (beyond local Wifi related ones).
