I appreciate you posting your mistake because it may help someone doing research for a future purchase. I didn't think to put wheels on my list. I've seen a couple other posts about wheels, but like @JBnorthTX said above, I believe those posts were people doing research.I made a wrong choice when I was looking at the alloy wheels but thought they were the unique alum wheels. So I will be getting the black uniques, not that big a deal because I like those also. I called a couple of days after submitting the order but I was super lucky and was scheduled the day after submitting so the dealer rep said I couldn’t make a change.
You think they sucked, my first couple of cars had 8-track players, they REALLY sucked.Cassette player? OMG! Cassettes sucked so bad it wasn't even funny.
I had an 8 track once. Literally every cassette got eaten at one point or other. Talk about bad tech! Having lived through that I sincerely appreciate the quality, reliability and convenience of digital music. You think they sucked, my first couple of cars had 8-track players, they REALLY sucked.
Cassettes were the BOMB when they came out!!
Not to mention the "click-click" of changing tracks right in the middle of a song. They were a POS!I had an 8 track once. Literally every cassette got eaten at one point or other. Everyone of those questions have been answered numerous times right here on this wonderful site. I'm sorry but not knowing anything about this truck falls back on the person buying. Reminds me of another topic affecting us all which so many have false beliefs. The truth is available, listen and learn, no excuses!I've seen several posts here where people say they thought they were getting "X" but they got or just learned that they get "Y". This applies to people who ordered a Maverick as well as bought off the dealers lot.
Examples I've seen include -
I thought the XL had cruise control
I thought the Maverick had a CD player
I thought the Maverick had built in navigation
I thought the XLT had Sirius XM
I thought the Lariat without Lux had active cruise control
I thought my hybrid got a full size spare without buying copilot 360
I thought the full size spare option was the same size as the other 4 tires
There's probably more, but these are what I can recall right now.
The question is how does this happen?
Is Ford's online information not clear enough? It does take some digging, that's for sure.
Are the dealership sales people not doing a good job of learning everything the customer wants and explaining the options and or packages required to get them? There are some poor sales people out there unfortunately.
Is the customer not doing their due diligence before handing out $20-30K or more?
I thought I had done good research and I did know all of the above except I learned about the faux full size spare tire here on this forum.
How can this lack of information in the age of information that we live in be improved?
I'd say some improvement of complete (and correct) information on the Ford build and price website would benefit the most.
What say you?
Essentially yes to all your questions. The Ford site is very poor in being specific on what each version includes or whet you need to order to get what you want.I've seen several posts here where people say they thought they were getting "X" but they got or just learned that they get "Y". my 2014 VW Jetta has CD. I've never used it...When was the last time a manufacturer put a cd player in a car? 1998?
Wow, never thought they lasted that long!my 2014 VW Jetta has CD. I've never used it...
I like your ideas for identifying the different Copilot360's. Some people say Ford monitors this site. I hope they pick up on your ideas for different 360 packages.I assume no vehicle has anything, in any trim level, until I verify for myself. Too expensive of a decision in purchasing a new car. Make no assumptions.
During my due diligence of all the standard equipment and options is when I decided to upgrade to Lariat and then to Luxury Package, because of the features I want. Had I not done an exhaustive analyzation, I probably would have gotten XLT Poverty with 360 and then been pretty disappointed.
I did find all the answers I was looking for in my analysis, even back in June, I admit there is some confusing things out there in Ford's official channels. Back then and still now. 360 features and spare tires being chief among them.
No matter what, the Co-Pilot 360 brand sounds very advanced and people will automatically infer that includes ACC and lane centering. Maybe they should call this version Co-Pilot Basic, or not use that name at all. Co-Pilot makes it sound advanced and automated. 360 makes it sound all encompassing and comprehensive.
Co-Pilot 2.0 or Co-Pilot+ are good ideas to differentiate the more advanced features like ACC, lane centering and evasive steering. But they then should put at the bottom of the "Co-Pilot Basic" package a disclaimer that Co-Pilot 2.0 features are not available on this trim level.
Some extra communication/clarification would go a long way and may even help people upsell. And virtually no one puts CD players in vehicles any more.
See this thread for info -This may sound foolish, and I assure you I searched, however the search returned 25 pages on "full size spare"
I assumed that a full size spare was an appropriate size tire on a steel rim, similar to what's stock on the XL as thats what I have seen hanging under other vehicles I have had with a full size spare.
Is that not the case?
