Maybe I'm the only person left that doesn't use any form of cruise control. My daily work commute is 10 miles of mostly city/suburban traffic, but even when I'm driving on the highway for multiple hours I don't want to lose the feeling of control.
Is there anybody else out there???????????

You are right.. wife just got a van with ACC. I thought it was a little much but actually love it...Lane assist is a pain with vibrating and antilock break type heads up noise... but learning to enjoy ACC

active cruise control, it will slow you down if you come up on someone going slower than you and maintane a preset distance to follow them

For me it was like "Can't live without it". Once I got it, I could never own another vehicle without it. Too afraid I would rear end someone while on cruise control.
Is this because it makes you feel like you can be on your phone while driving?

What exactly is ACC? is it a module or an entire stand alone system?

If someone removed ACC from a Ford and laid it on a bench, what would I be looking at?
Adaptive Cruise Control. When you come up on a vehicle your vehicle will slow down to match it's speed and stay a set distance away. Then when you do start a pass your vehicle will resume it's original speed.
You can adjust the distance you stay away from a vehicle or turn it completely off. Some cars will only go to 30 mhp others will go completely to a stop and start. The system will even use the brake if needed.
Some cars use a radar unit in the bumper or in the front emblem others use the anti collision/ lane detection camera.

Figures. Was someone else's order so I was taking it anyways. I just really liked that feature on my last car.
Very first line of your post you say - "Maybe I missed something when I ordered my truck"

So did you order it, or did someone else?

I want to know exactly what hardware Ford installs for ACC.

There are people adding ACC to F-150s for about $500.

Maybe I missed something when I ordered my truck? I picked up a Maverick XLT with FX4 package today including the Copilot 360 package. The only reason I ordered it because I assumed like my Fusion Hybrid it included the adaptive cruise control which is the only reason I ordered the 360 package. Disappointing but I guess I overlooked it in ordering. My only question is this, I went back through ordering an Xlt and a Lariat and I don't see an option for adaptive cruise?
I was going with the XLT but my wife made me upgrade to the Lariat Luxury package foe the ACC.

Whoa! No acc!? that was the whole reason I ordered with 360. So what does the XLT 360 come with? blind spot monitoring and lane centering? Blind spot monitoring is a pretty minor thing for a vehicle this small, so if all it is is lane centering...that's pretty lame.

After reading more carefully the XLT 360 does not have lane centering, it has 'lane-keeping aid' which is just a vibration in the steering wheel right? $540 seems pricey for basically blind spot monitoring and nothing else of value.....I'm sad about this.

No ACC on XLT. Not available as an option on XL or XLT. Not standard on Lariat either. Have to go to Lariat Luxury Package to get it. It's the chief reason why I ended up upgrading to Lariat. I can't go backwards.
Same reason I upgraded to Lariat, I do enough long Highway trips it will be nice to not have to turn off and resume cruise control when stuck behind people.

  • BLIS with Cross Traffic Alert
  • Full Size Spare included with Hybrid
  • Lane Keeping System (Lane Keeping Aid, Lane Keeping Alert, Driver Alert System)
It does not include Lane Centering. Just Lane Keeping System. Lane Centering is only in the Lariat Luxury Package. Lane Keeping Aid in 360 Package just corrects crossing the line, in does not hold the lane and self steer to stay steady between the lines. That's Lane Centering.

Lane Keeping gently steers back from crossing the line, if you enable that option in your settings. But it does not maintain the center of the lane.

You have to take control of the wheel again and recenter yourself after Lane Keeping Aid corrects, or you will go back across the other line and then corrects again. If you allow it to ping pong back and forth between the lines, the correction gets more and more reactive and feels out of contollish after a few corrects. Not to mention you will look intoxicated.

I have tried it a few times, it gets unsafe very quickly ping ponging back and forth. It's meant just for a one time correction, not to keep within the lane. Staying in the lane is what Lane Centering is designed for.
