My truck will be 3 years old in March (9th) I only drive 4K a year, so it sits many days undriven. It goes into "deep sleep" all the time, but always starts when I push the start button. (Lariat with push button) has the original battery that came in the truck, I worried at first, but as soon as it starts, all the interior lights go on, and everything is back to normal.

I see you're in a mild climate. If you venture up North in the winter, don't plan on the battery holding up enough to operate. If it's going on three years in a low voltage state, you will be lucky
to make it to Ford's planned fix for this issue. Make sure you have your battery checked at the dealer before you're out of your warranty. No courtesy lights upon entry would not be acceptable to me in the dark.

From reading on here it seems like you should be using slippery mode to get less engine braking so you can do what you want there. Don't have mine yet so again just saying what seems to make sense from people that have gotten good results in that mode.
Opposite actually - slippery mode uses less regen on coast and on initial braking - if you lengthen the distance you plan on braking no problem - 100% is 100% - you'll get the same amount of recharge no matter what mode you are in.

The difference comes into play when you don't plan that longer distance to stop and end up engaging the mech brakes more than you might have.

There is no solution but a bigger battery for that request made, which was their wish.

I totally agree that you shouldn’t have to drive it more often or hook it up to a trickle charger. Yes there are options for battery replacement but why should we have to spend more $$ to correct a Ford issue?
I have had the same “Battery Saver” messages since owning mine for a year now but has never failed to start. I drive mine at least a couple times a week but not long distances often. It kind of defeats the purpose of having a fuel efficient vehicle if you are required to drive it more often without having accessories on to charge the battery.
Don't worry about having accessories on or off - doesn't matter to the charging of the 12V battery.
Not like an alternator process where that might benefit.

12V battery is getting the amps the system decides, plenty to go around so doesn't matter what else is going.

That link shows a Size: H4 /Group 140R battery for Cyber Monday price of $111.99 but shows this battery will not fit my 2024 Maverick Lariat Hybrid. When I click on the Amazon link for my vehicle, it shows
No results found for your 2024 Ford Maverick.

What size and Group battery should I search for?

In any version of the 2022-2024 Maverick Hybrid:

ANY Group 140R battery drops right in place of the stock Ford Group 99R, there's only a marginal difference in height which doesn't matter. Just make sure you get an AGM type.

@HeyBales is right: As this is a different battery than OEM, any online seller will not list a Group 140R as compatible with the Maverick Hybrid. But don't panic: it will fit just fine.

My mileage with the AGM:

I currently have 18k miles on my new AGM battery over approx. ten months with exactly ZERO (!!) random deep sleep issues. In fact: the ONLY deep sleep noted was when the truck was parked while we were on vacation about eight months ago and it went into deep sleep after 16 days, which is what this feature is for.

Brings me to this:

Owners across many threads on this forum over literally thousands of posts have been discussing these random deep sleeps or low battery conditions, with some pulling the 12V fuse for the Fordpass modem (to save power), others putting in ports for external trickle chargers. Many owners have been dealing with Ford dealerships on this issue for hours on end and multiple times with recall updates on this issue to boot. Hybrid owners frequently seem worried and put off by all this stuff. And I get that.

However: the main fix for most Hybrid owners is a ($110-150) Group 140R AGM battery. It will put an end to the typical deep sleep issues and low battery charge conditions. Install it, and call it good.

And yes: you can still pull that fuse, or add a trickle charger port, and any Ford BCM programming recalls will be done anyway, but typical owners that drive their truck at least once a week, will likely find there's no need for anything after an AGM battery is installed.

Request for @Administrator:

New threads about Hybrid 12V battery woes / AGM replacements are still popping up regularly, with usually the same info being shared again and again. Not always, but often. And key info ends up many pages down the thread and now scattered across many threads.

Maybe @Administrator could allow for a properly titled "sticky" thread in the 2.5L Hybrid Powertrain subforum. This could be a great resource on this often recurring issue, which will be getting worse as these trucks and their 12V batteries age a bit.

One other question. I read something about the positive and negative posts on the AGM battery need to be the same position as the battery being replaced. Are the cables in the Maverick so short they can't connect across the battery?

One other question. I read something about the positive and negative posts on the AGM battery need to be the same position as the battery being replaced. Are the cables in the Maverick so short they can't connect across the battery?

I haven't seen a newish vehicle in a long while that the standard battery cables would allow a backwards post battery to be installed, and still reach the correct side. I've helped out a lot of stranded folks with my jumper pack - or at least took a look to see if that was issue to help with.
Maverick is no different.

Yes they do need to be the same.

99R means Reversed positive from default, as does 140R.

T4 & H4 mean Positive on right by default - hence no designation needed for it.
