Should I just buy a better 12v battery at this point?

What a coincidence, I got a notification from FordPass this morning telling me I was in deep sleep, and my truck (EB) wouldn’t start this morning. I put it on a charger all day and was trying to figure out what might have happened, thinking the usual like an interior light left on or similar, or maybe the wireless CarPlay dongle I got for Christmas might have been kicking the radio on somehow. But based on this thread I’d guess it’s not user error or cheap audio accessories, and I’m going to have to make a call to my dealer tomorrow. I’ve only been waiting 8 months to get my recalls done, I’m sure a simple battery problem can be solved in a jiffy 🙄.

I also agree that it must be a software issue within the BMS. I am not to replace my battery until it completely dies or Ford offers a software fix.

My truck has been sitting at the dealership for almost 3 weeks for no start issues related to the 12v battery. The first time I took it in they said battery was bad and replaced it and sent me away. 5 days later it wouldn't start again so had it towed to the dealership. Apparently they can't find any issue. No draws, no updates to be done, no fuse issues, no harness issues, and the battery is fine. So they want me to come pick it up. What? It literally won't start without being jumped?

I've seen people on this forum buy a better battery and put it in the truck and they say it fixed their problem. Should I just do that? I shouldn't have to spend $200+ on a battery for my brand new vehicle?
What the heck, dealer told you that and car is within warranty. Does he know you have to jump the new battery given to you to start it? If so he can't violate warranty. Right?

I did the same. Took about half an hour. It's tight but works. We'll see how it does with the deep sleep issue.

"My cordless Dremel had a tough time cutting the tabs, so I scored them and pounded them down with a small hammer. - Which lowers them to the height of the balance of the plate.

Popping out the plastic panel makes it a LOT easier to place the larger battery in the tray.

No other modification needed, and panels are easily pulled off, and snapped back into place.

Waiting the 8 hours after BMS reset, however the transmission period barely dropped the voltage or SoC."

The small factory battery is simply drained by just the after cycle communications. I've been tracking mine for a while .... with a nice big H5 AGM en route.
Thank you for your input
So its been a while since you probably installed your new battery.
Did the new battery pan out as an improvement over the old one?
H5 battery: is that actually larger then your factory battery?
What was the manufacturer of the new battery (if indeed it improved your truck situation)?
Where did you get it?
Was it difficult to fit into the battery compartment (if indeed it was larger)?

I want to be prepared for another battery because i got battery warning message week ago?

I have never bought a battery replacement yet, but if i did the AC delco AGM is the one I would choose for the price and the correct size.

Update, stilling running strong with absolutely no deep sleep messages. She'll occasionally sit for 3, 4, or 5 days if I'm pedalling to work on a long weekend, the AGM is exactly what the Hybrid needs from the factory.

maybe in Canada -not so simple in the USA - more than likely your salesman reminded you to buy a battery jumper pack when you purchased your vehicle ;) if you want reliability . this is not the 50's, you know, these are new modern vehicles. It's really simple - its about the $. Every owner that gets tired of trickle charging and jumping, and purchases a new battery, saves the company money

Are the motorcraft batteries at the dealership agm? i looked on line at local dealer and couldn't tell if it was agm.

Thank you for your input

Looks like people on forum buy batteries agm style though a company on line that it brought through the mail. If warranty with battery bought on line goes sour it may be hard to return to an on line store like ebay, rock auto etc.

they may test battery when they get it and say "the battery is good" and then got to pay for return cost to them and back to me. Wish it wasn't that way.

on line is better price then die hard at $220 and rock auto etc on line probably $170. Big savings but potential hassle and cost for return. Maybe I got it figured all wrong.

Are you still on your original battery?
If so how long has it lasted so far if not where did you to to get your battery?
What was the cost of the battery? Was it a walk in store or bought on line?

Did the battery slip into place into the compartment without need to dismantle plastic?

Do you remember the size of the battery i.e. 99r t4 or h5 battery (which I heard is bit too larger without dismantling of the plastic trim.

The batteries at the dealership are the same as what comes in the truck, an 'Enhance Flooded Cell'. Oddly, the BCM is programmed from the factory for an AGM battery, not a flooded cell. - I actually wonder if that's the issue, since an AGM takes higher voltage typically to charge. They even sell AGM diodes to help when replacing a flooded cell with an AGM on vehicles not setup for an AGM.

BTW, I bought mine online directly from Weize Battery. So far, so good, and cheaper than my time to drive up and sit at the dealership waiting for them to get to servicing the truck. At some point I'll ask my brother to take the battery to work, test it, and replace it for a spare. - My OEM battery drops voltage/charge just sitting on a shelf. (Under 12 volts within just a couple of weeks off the charger).
