Follow the link in @bgn's post and select your vehicle. That has the full details on placement, etc.. The strips are just for if the kit's original blocks aren't thick enough to wedge in place. They get stuck to the larger block to turn it into a 20mm x ~16mm (vs 20x13).
Hi Darnon and thank you for the quick reply. Subsequent to my original post, I reviewed and followed the link which I hadn't done in my excitement, scrolled through the instructions and had the info. I did edit my post to reflect that but may not have appeared. Again, many thanks for helping out.

Interesting... I didn't watch the video yet, but I don't know why this would be only be in effect for 2wd models. The TSB doesn't show at the link when I enter my VIN.

I must be one of the few lucky ones that doesn't have any rattles. I figured they would eventually crop up, but I recently drove a lot of off-road and gravel/dirt miles in CO and still don't have any.

Yeah, I have no idea why it's 2wd only. I think that's insane given the dash doesn't change.
I wonder if the thicker glass on the Lariat makes any difference in the rattle? Mine rattles when riding over bumpy roads.

I doubt it. Mine is an XLT.

The windshield mounts to the outside of the body so all other things being equal the thickness of the glass wouldn't affect the clearance.

Someone posted in past that the bedding for the glass was not thick enough and glass was too close to metal somewhere. I don't think the sound absorbing extra layer of plastic between the windshield glass is thick enough to matter in any way

Yep. All of us on the thread seem to be thinking the same thing.

I will say...I'm very impressed by what they've decided to share publicly on that site. Having access to the repair procedure, dimensions of the foam blocks, and even video is phenomenal. Props to Ford.
If it saves someone from bringing it inand diy instead, why not. Saves corporate $$$

It's free, why not have it done. I'm probably gonna get this done, it beats pulling the entire dash or windshield off to try and fix it. I'll report back on any changes within a month or so. The deep sleep and CV stuff is annoying, but the dash rattle is the only issue I've actually experienced first hand this far.

I have a 24 Lariat with 14k miles and about 2k ago I started getting this rattle when its in drive and I have my foot on the brake. If I take my foot off the brake or shift it in neutral the rattle goes away. Sounds like its coming from behind the back seat.

Possibly a dropped bolt during assembly rattling around 🤔. Q/C is not top priority it seems after reading these different threads.

It is certainly not limited to a 2-wheel drive model. I'm in the "this has been happening to me for too long club" with a 22 XLT 4WD. If this actually fixes the incredibly annoying rattle on the left side of my dash, it may be one of the happiest days of my ownership. :)

I test drove two Mavericks last week and both had the same dash rattle. The sales consultant blew it off, but when I declined to buy either one he quickly said "order a 2025...they fixed it on the new ones." I did...at another dealer.

Dash rattles drive me crazy, so I've become pretty good at fixing them. I won't buy a new vehicle that comes with a rattle, though. If you are going to attempt this repair, I say go for it. It looks fairly easy. Make your own foam blocks from a cheap kneeling pad. I've done that a few times on my former Subaru.

Well, I spent the afternoon working on this TSB, and it is definitely an acrobatic art to get those foam blocks in place. Would have been better if Ford had noted the need for a special tool, specifically a teenaged basketball player with long skinny arms!

But the exercise did provide some insight on the problem. The creak/rattle is definitely caused by the 2 piece defroster duct design. The new foam block is pushing against the front piece (part of the IP) to hopefully tighten the gap with the back piece. It does help somewhat with the rattle, but not so much with the creaking since the pieces are still moving relative to each other.

I found the best way to reduce the creaking is to spray some dry lube like SailKote (used for sails on masts) into the duct gaps (from the top) to allow the plastic parts to slide against each other more easily. Not a perfect fix, but it helps with the creaking loudness.

There is no other real fix, aside from taking out the entire IP and placing felt on the rear duct piece where it rubs against the IP (should have been added by design in the first place). It might be accessible when the windshield is removed. The glass guys won’t be keen about you working on the vehicle during a windshield replacement, but the foam blocks will fall out anyway, so it could be an opportunity for a better fix.

Finally, from what I hear it seems this is more of a drivers side problem than passenger side, which is unfortunate since the drivers side duct is much harder to access, teenage basketball player tool not withstanding!
