I've just about given up on my OEM 12v battery, too many deep sleeps and dealer always says it's ok but when I check at home it's 11.7 V.
If I change to an AGM battery besides battery reset procedure does anything need to be changed in forscan and if so anyone in middle TN besides dealer can make the change if needed

BMS reset is all.
Mavericks seem to come out of factory with battery type as AGM in the BCM. And changing Target SOC in BCM has no effect in the Hybrids.

I've had an AGM (LN1AGM) in since last November.

Buy one. Save yourself trips to the dealer and get more of your personal time back.
I agree. It's hard to put a price on reduced frustration and personal time, but I can confidently say in my case that it doesn't take much to add up the price of a new AGM battery.

I put in an LN1 AGM after optimizing it with
My Genius 5 then resetting BMS and letting it rest for 8+ hours. Never looked back. Consistently rests at 12.6v to 12.8v and charges at 14.6v to 14.8v as I drive. Two months in and no deep sleep issues. What came out of Mav was a 390 CCA POS …. It was only slightly better than the 350 CCA battery in my JD LX 280 garden tractor!!! I can’t believe Ford would install a “play” battery in good conscience. What did they think was going to happen ??????

Don't overthink it: just put any AGM battery in there, reset the BMS and call it good.

You'll find that random low battery voltage conditions & deep sleeps go away.

This is the battery I put in: UPlus AGM Group 140R, drops right in. Zero issues since installing it 15k miles ago.

Cheers!

I don't know why so many are against getting their own AGM battery. Cost? Let me breakdown cost for me. I took the better part of a morning to bring my truck into my local dealership's service department. In my line of work, I average about $43-$50 an hour. I left my truck there. They called me 5 and half hours later to say my truck was "ready." Had to have my wife drive me back to the dealership. After about 5 hours of lost time, I was told that they couldn't test my system due to my aftermarket amplifier system I installed. They also said they charged the battery.

The next morning, the battery was completely dead and NO, it isn't becuase of my aftermarket system. I installed a kill switch that completely disconnects my amps from the battery when I leave the truck. 5 hours times $43 an hour = $215.

Cost for my AGM battery which charges and runs fine..................$215. My time is worth more to me than spending time going back and forth trying to convince a service department of my issue.

Yes, I get it. You buy a new vehicle and it should perform fine and in a wonderful world the company you bought it from will fix or find the problem that is causing you concern. That was 40 years ago. Not the norm today. There are dozens of posts in here showing the reality of what we have to deal with.

The wonderful people in MaverickTruckclub told me everything I needed to get myself out of this battery mess. And, it has been rare instances that a service department replaced the battery. And it has been rare that they replaced it with an AGM battery.

Someone already posted how such a low quality battery has been installed in the Maverick. I agree. I've seen higher CCA's in golf cart batteries.

Just had my battery replaced a 2nd time after 4 visit in total for this issue. It is very frustrating. Thankfully the dealership is .25 miles from my house. I would be willing to change to an AMG battery once this warranty is up. My first battery replacement was in Nov 2023. Almost a year but I started having issues in August.

Thank you for this thread. Currently doing lots of research and digging as I await my new 2025.

To those who have put in a Group 140R, how tight was it? the H/W/L of 7.48/6.85/8.19"

I am looking to get ahead of the game and put in a Group 40R with 7.48/6.93/10.94, but i don't know if an extra 2.75" will be too much.

**EDIT** Found that the Group 47 / DH5 / LN2 would be the maximum at 7.5/6.88/9.53.

Cheers.

All our Fords back to 2010 came with pretty cheap batteries that failed at 5-6 years, on our '18 explorer my wife cranked it up just fine, drove 10 blocks to the local quickie mart, and it failed to start when she left. My voltmeter showed 10 volts, making me think a cell just suddenly died.
Don't go cheap on batteries, they will leave you stranded in the worst place at the coldest time of the year.

Thank you!! just ordered it, and it's cheaper than a lead acid type, only $149 delivered!

Careful in ordering batteries from online places like Rockauto. In my case, the battery was bubble wrapped and placed in a larger box. Looks it was thrown around and got damaged, as the battery casing was broken. Probably depends which warehouse it ships from, but they clearly don’t know how to pack batteries - mine came from one in Florida. Plus, the hassle of shipping it back if it fails under warranty.

My 2022 hybrid was/is not AGM in the BCM.
I changed the SOC to 95% a few months ago after my 2nd Battery(Duralast Gold) started getting Deep Sleep messages @ 11 months, again.
Haven't had any since, but not getting my hopes up.

Ford was hoping it was enough to get it through the basic warranty. Remember it's a "cheap" made truck to keep selling price low and still pull a profit. Inflation is affecting everything and driving costs up.

Are you driving a hybrid? The battery on mine is under the seat. When I click the link the battery shown says it will not fit the Maverick in big red letters.
