Can’t trust the dealers. I had a buddy who worked for a dealer in sales. Had his maintenance done by the dealer and they forgot to fill the trans fluid back up after a drain. His tranny blew apart after about 20 miles on the highway. Lucky enough he got them to replace the whole car with an upgraded model on the dealers dime. Pretty much picked from the lot. The tech was fired after being on the job for 3 months.
I don’t trust anyone working on my car. If I can be in the shop watching them I would but they always say it goes against insurance policy to have a customer in there.
didn't think they would move without trans fluid

I'm not sure about the Ecoboost, but I'm pretty sure the hybrid is equipped with an eCVT-

Totally different animal compared to a CVT...
I was differentiating between to basic types of Maverick Transmissions. Conventional and CVT.
You are correct that the CVT and eCVT are both Continuously Variable. The eCVT uses solenoids and gears vs the CVT uses a Belt to continuously vary the trans ratio.

Unfortunately I've been saying it from the start but this is going to be commonplace. Most Ford techs will openly say that the 8F35 is a piece of junk just like the 6F35 was. Add in extra heat and strain from towing and hauling and kaboom.
The Ford 10 spd is a similar design with similar problems. On a positive note my Son has a Transit Van with a Ford 10 spd and Ecoboost V-6. He contracts with Panther Expedited Freight with 680,000 miles and the 10 spd is working just fine. He has done Fluid changes and reverse flushes occasionally. Note: mostly highway driving.

Transit is a transverse engine vehicle?

If it's a V6 then it's the full size Transit with longitudinal powertrain..

No solenoids, unless you count the parking pawl solenoid. It's all electronic control not hydraulic. The fluid is there for lubrication and cooling.

The continuously variable output is accomplished via Planetary Gears and Electric Motors driving Actuators. The Electronics come from the ECM. I don't know if solenoids or Solid State devices control the Electric Motors that drive the Actuators.

Good discussion!!

Except that the vehicle would not move an inch with no fluid in the transmisson!

The ECM only controls the ICE side of things. The eCVT is controlled by the Inverter System Controller (or SOBDMC) through solid state electronics which are functionally two conjoined variable frequency three phase motor controllers.

From the sounds of it. This is what....
Ford Maverick Transmission grenaded 20240915_085115

a Ford Maverick EcoBoost 8-speed transmission looks like grenading.
On the other hand.... according to the descriptions provided...

Ford Maverick Transmission grenaded 20240915_085237

This is what a High Voltage Ford Maverick hybrid e-CVT may look like if it grenades. 😬
