So I'm about a week into owning this car, and everything is great except for these damn auto locking doors! I don't know what is going on here, since searching the forums would leave me to believe that 2022 XLTs don't HAVE auto-locking doors to begin with. But this vehicle sure does -- every time I leave the car for more than ten seconds, the doors lock. It's a pain in the ass having to dig through my pockets for the keys when I just want to get something out of the back seat after leaving the drivers seat and closing the door!

I've got an actual key, not a fob, and I've got a door keypad, and no sensors on the handles or anything. And I know I'm definitely not accidentally hitting lock because I've tested that theory too. Can anyone help me figure out wtf is going on with this feature that supposedly isn't included with the car??

I have an issue with the autolock. Before I left the dealership my 24 XLT auto locked with the key in the ignition. I think I am learing to live with this annoying issue. I have found that if the driver's door locks and others do not, it is because I accidentally hit the manual lock with the side of my hand, if all the doors lock, it's becauseI hit the lock button with my index finger as I release the door handle. I find that the location of these controls is a Ford really bad idea. I am sure a monkey would not have this problem, but I am old. My Mav doesn't have the option to turn this off. I will get around to bang testing every conceivable button push, key in the iginition, key out (I don't have a proximity key), and determine when it autolocks and when it does not. I will post the result. We often leave the dog in the vehile with the air-con running, and we don't lock the doors. He is a very good security system.

It's always all doors locking for me. And the tailgate. Everything. Doesn't matter if I hit unlock as I get out of the car -- once I close that drivers door, all the doors are locking. It's so stupid. I live in the middle of nowhere and I don't think I ever locked my last car, now I'm being forced to lock this one for no reason other than to inconvenience me, apparently.

Of course I've read that thread. It's just more people explaining how no ford maverick has this feature. Well I'm not crazy -- mine does. And it sucks.
My apologies. I had thought that by complaining about an issue that has already been documented in these forums that perhaps you had not searched to see that others were having this issue, too. I only offered you an opportunity to know that you are not alone.

Continue, as this may be cathartic to you in your time of frustration.

sigh. Again not relevant to my problem. And I've obviously read the manual regarding this issue, and it's not in there. This isn't about the car locking once in moving, it's about the car locking itself when the ignition is off and I'm outside of the vehicle.
Does it happen often??

Try taking the batteries out of both keys and see if that stops it. Maybe one or more is malfunctioning.

Did you set up the keypad, and is it the factory-installed (wired) one, or the dealer-installed (wireless) one?

I don't think that is an option on XLTs that technically don't have Sync.

I set up the keypad, I assume it's the wired one because it's built into the car and I set it up via the menu. Gonna try with the keys.

i don't have that option in the settings. It happens every single time. I'm starting to suspect it might be a leftover "feature" from the advanced anti-theft system the dealer tried to upsell me on, along with an annoying flashing green light under the dash that never turns off even when driving. Has anyone ever heard of something like that?
Ok, now you're onto something. Check this out: https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...his-wire-is-for-supposed-to-connect-to.49093/

None of those should have interfered with locks, though.
