It's always all doors locking for me. And the tailgate. Everything. Doesn't matter if I hit unlock as I get out of the car -- once I close that drivers door, all the doors are locking. It's so stupid. I live in the middle of nowhere and I don't think I ever locked my last car, now I'm being forced to lock this one for no reason other than to inconvenience me, apparently.
I wish my maverick had auto lock. My daily drivers for the last decade or so had Auto Unlock and auto lock, based on the proximity of the key fob or smart phone (wich serves the same purpose as the key fob). I frequently walk away from my maverick, thinking it is going to auto lock, only to later figure out that I just left in unlocked for an hour at the mall.

So I'm about a week into owning this car, and everything is great except for these damn auto locking doors! I don't know what is going on here, since searching the forums would leave me to believe that 2022 XLTs don't HAVE auto-locking doors to begin with. But this vehicle sure does -- every time I leave the car for more than ten seconds, the doors lock. It's a pain in the ass having to dig through my pockets for the keys when I just want to get something out of the back seat after leaving the drivers seat and closing the door!

I've got an actual key, not a fob, and I've got a door keypad, and no sensors on the handles or anything. And I know I'm definitely not accidentally hitting lock because I've tested that theory too. Can anyone help me figure out wtf is going on with this feature that supposedly isn't included with the car??

My 2022 Maverick will lock it self. If I leave the keys in it it then it is guaranteed to lock itself. It often only locks the drivers door. I am glad I have the key pad to unlock. It is not supposed to self lock. I just get blank look from my dealer.

Of course I've read that thread. It's just more people explaining how no ford maverick has this feature. Well I'm not crazy -- mine does. And it sucks.
you're hitting the lock (not the switch) with your hand when you're opening the door. I did it myself almost every time I got out of my Maverick with the intention of getting back in. Whoever designed the door handle was a moron with very small hands. My size 2xl hands just could not pull the handle without depressing the lock. It got to the point that I had to manually unlock it every time I got out with the vehicle running. There's no automatic locking feature, it's just a very very poor design.

I have never heard of a Ford having walk away locks. I wish they did. I really like the feature. Now I need to dig through some menus if true.

I've told this story a few times, 22 XLT FX4 LUX, I jump out of my truck to get a hot dog at a stand on the highway left truck running for AC for my dog in the back seat only 10/15 feet from stand get my dogs and a soda go back to truck doors locked!! truck is running, phone in the truck, dog in the truck me outside, can't use the ford app, have the keypad can't remember the code had the truck about a year never used it. I'm pissed, the right rear window halfway down for the dog she likes to stick her head out, am 50 miles from home to get spare key, did I say am Pissed. Friend driving by sees me at the dog stand pulls over to get a dog too, am a big guy no way am getting in he's a skinny guy he gets in after 1/2 hour. Got home changed the code on keypad with code can't forget and NEVER get out of truck even with it running without a window OPEN. Was having some radio problems ford did latest update fixed radio and doors haven't locked since, dealer say its normal that's BS. Check to see if you have the latest software.

I think it is related to the alarm system you said the dealer partially removed. That is your problem. An aftermarket alarm locks the car after a period of time.

I am not doing that, how many times do I have to explain this. If am at the passenger side standing outside, press unlock on my fob, put something in the car, and then close the door without ever touching anything in the interior... about 20 seconds later all the doors will lock on their own at the same time that the interior lights fade off.

i hate it and it's the one thing I cant stand about it, but I hate it enough that it's starting to make me hate this car. I don't want to have to fish around in my pockets or walk around to the drivers side every single time I need to pull a tool out of the back seat or open the tailgate!!!
