Well, I found out more info on my doors locking! 2025 Maverick XLT! *HAVEA WINDOW ROLLED DOWN IN FRONT BEFORE YOU TRY ANY OF THESE THINGS SO YOU DON'T GET LOCKED OUT WHILE TRYING THESE THINGS!!!!*If you're inside the vehicle and you hear 2 beeps, you've locked all the doors! Bring your keys with you because you can lock yourself out with the keys inside! Did you know that you can lock the doors using only your fingers? (Again 2025 Maverick XLT) If your keys are in your pocket, there are little, I'll call them "Half Chevron" marks on the rear of the front door handles! When you put your fingers into the front door handles, you'll hear a click! Ok, if you use 1 finger and slide it across the half Chevron mark, you can lock all the doors! Put your fingers into the handle like you're going to open the door, and it will unlock! Again WITH YOUR KEYS IN YOUR POCKET! *BEFORE YOU TRY ANY OF THESE THINGS HAVE A WINDOW ROLLED DOWN IN FRONT SO YOU DON'T GET LOCKED OUT WHILE TRYING IT!!!!!!* Pretty sure I locked myself out because I didn't understand the 2 beeps! I remember hearing them! And my car alarm had just gone off. I probably bumped that also. I had just shut it off, and probably bumped the lock button 2 buttons above the alarm button! So watch and listen!

Welcome to "MTC" 🤝

"Railphotos32" Mitch,
If you own a cell phone, could you please take a few photos and post them. You can do it all right from your cell phone. Literally less than 2 minutes from picture to post.
It makes visualizing what you're describing a whole lot easier.
Thank You,
GB

uh, yeah. the touch pad on the door handle is a pretty standard feature across all ford models and other manufacturers too.

if you have the keys and you touch inside the driver's outside handle it will unlock the doors.

Just to be clear, you are talking about the exterior door handle? On my '24 Lariat with proximity locking and the keyfob in my pocket, if I touch the chevrons on the door handle my truck locks. If I grasp the door handle my truck unlocks.

There is a split second delay on the unlock, so I wait until I hear the mechanical sound of the door locks before yanking on the handle to open the door.

A couple of times when my truck locked what seemed unexpectedly, it turns out the keyfob was in a tight rear pocket with enough pressure such that it activated the lock button on the fob.

That's interesting. On occasion my '24 2.0 Eco-boost gave me the double beep when I opened the driver's door but don't exit immediately. It's rare and I haven't tied that to the doors locking. I never leave my keys in the truck and always hit the lock button on the door interior.

Since the door lock function is being discussed, I hope you don’t mind a newbie question. New Maverick owner here. 2025 Lariat. Where exactly do you touch to LOCK the doors? I saw a reference to just touching the ridges on the outside but that doesn’t work. The unlock feature works perfectly. I did put on some matte black door handle covers but the ridges on the outside are still exposed.
It’s not on TOP of the handle is it?

Yes - see manual pic.

Using Keyless Entry

Unlocking the Doors
Ford Maverick More info on doors locking! {filename}

With your passive key within 3 ft (1 m) of your vehicle, touch the unlock sensor on the back of the door handle for a brief period and then pull on the door handle to unlock, being careful not to touch the lock sensor at the same time or pull on the door handle too quickly. The intelligent access system requires a brief delay to authenticate your intelligent access key.

With your passive key within 3 ft (1 m) of your vehicle, touch the outer door handle lock sensor for approximately one second to lock, being careful not to touch the unlock sensor on the back of the door handle at the same time. After locking, you can immediately pull on the door handle to confirm locking occurred without inadvertently unlocking.

The fob Never leaves my pocket.
I pay attention to Not manually lock it when I open the door from the inside, so I don’t have to complain about it automatically locking itself.
I read the owner’s manual and all the locking/unlocking features work correctly on mine. Phone app works fine as well.

It’s amazing what you can find in the owner’s manual, my friend.
