Have been wanting to do a brief exposé comparing my 1963 Falcon Ranchero Deluxe Cab to my 2024 Maverick Lariat. Obviously comparing a 60-year-old trucklet to a new one is mostly senseless but why not! Price: $2668 vs. $37195, GVW: 2755lb vs. 5205lb., Payload: 700lb. vs. 1500lb., WB 109" vs. 121", Length 189" vs. 199.7", HP: 164 vs. 250, MPG: 17.8 vs. 26, 4.2L V8 vs. 2.0L I4, 4-speed manual vs. 8-speed automatic.

I will let you decide how far we have come in 60 years.

And more stuff sixty years later and less than 10k more considering $2668 in 1963 is about $27,400 in today's money.

Edited to show correct year comparison. I had used 1960 rather than 1963

I've always liked the Falcon Truck. Totally fits all the purposes of a small truck. I'm suprised you're still using a vacuum advanced point type distributor. I went pointless when I owned a 69 bug. You'll have to get a higher sparking coil, but what a difference it made in performance and gas mileage. Beautiful truck!!

Does have Pertronix replacing the points. Thank you for the complement.

Wow the simplicity of the Ford Ranchero. Beautiful truck. Congrats on having and taking such good care of it.
Was a 2-year labor of love restoring it. It lives a pampered life now.

I like seeing old vehicles. Because you can see the technology that has improved in ride, performance, handling, and options not even available at that timeframe. Don't forget the advantages in mileage and safety standards. Still your old Ranchero looks nice, just not as appealing as the Ford Maverick sitting next to it. Then again different strokes for different folks. Hope you enjoy them both.

Classic design did have it's time an place, no doubt about it. Simple, all metal construction, and no safety features whatsoever. Of course we all the biggest difference is which one you are more likely to survive in, in the event of an accident. 😉

The Ranchero is beaut and so is your Mav. My father had a '64 Falcon Futura with the 170ci straight 6.

This is why I've always wondered why Ford chose the Maverick name and didn't name this little truck, the Ranchero
Because the Ranchero was a G1 Fairlane, then a Falcon back to a Fairlane/Torino/Montegro in it's last version a Ranchero was an LTD II, Cougar, Thunderbird Clone.
