What exactly is "wrong with this?" These are valid points that are gone off of observation and personal experience.
Again, the 2.0 in the 2025 is brand new to the Maverick so you cannot infer reliability from previous engines.

The 8F35 is the weak point in Maverick drivetrains - hybrids don't have the 8F35. The 2.0 GDI also has issues long term and those are well documented.

What you've seen for the hybrid are recalls for deep sleep, grabby brakes, but the reliability of the hybrid drivetrain overall is excellent.

You like the 2024s because they have physical HVAC buttons. That is the observation.

Can you cite your source for the 2.0 Ecoboost is new for 2025? I thought it was the same engine as 2024 just downrated hp for emissions? The 2.0 Ecoboost was problematic till they redesigned the cylinder head.
Also, what are the issues for the 8F35?

The major assembly components (block, heads, camshafts, intake, etc.) are all different with the conjoined port injection/direct injection design.

The questions I have about hybrids is how long does the hybrid battery last, how long is the warranty on the battery? With all this money you save on gas do you have to spend those savings on a new battery? I've never entertained a ev or hybrid so these are genuine questions.

Great! Another Ford screwup by messing with an engine that is currently working without issues. I'll bet this new engine component design will have flaws and recalls within 6 months. Happens every time Ford tampers with a proven design to cut costs like using plastic where metal should be used. We'll see what happens.

Hybrid system warranty is eight years/100,000 miles. If it gets thru that without issue it’s likely to go to 15/150k without issue.

The way Ford designed the battery it’s super easy to replace when needed.

I bought the hybrid because I like the smooth, quiet powertrain of it. Also it was cheaper in 2022-2023. I didn’t upgrade to a 2025 but might in 2028 and would buy the same powertrain regardless of money saved or not.

Manifest destiny. Get the powertrain you want, no other factors. Do it right the 1st time. Saving a few grand, but the 2025 is newer so even that's a wash. 2025 is that way I would go.

lol wut? This is a massive upgrade to the 2.0. We finally get dual injection.

I wouldn't say the 2.0 is "without issues". It has plenty well documented over it's life so far. Especially the coolant leaks happening between cylinders which again, is being addressed in the refresh (but nothing will truly fix that terrible design anyways and its present on almost every single ecoboost).
