I don't get it ...what's to prevent someone from ripping it off and then trying at night to get into your truck until they find the right code.

The dealer doesn’t care where you put it. I had a dealer come to my house to program it and I hadn’t decided where I wanted it. A couple days later I put it on the trim above the gas tank. About a month later I decided to move it inside the gas cap door. It was easy to remove from the trim by working a piece of floss under the keypad. No markings or residue. You might have to be more careful if you remove it from paint. And the 3M tape was still useable in the new location. You can always put some new 3M tape on it if needed.Has anyone requested the dealer place it in a less prominent location? Any ideas?
That's how my Lariat works, just walk up touch the door handle and hop in then use the push button start. I use my keypad when I lock my phone and keys in it while biking and kayaking.I have a 2023 XLT Hybrid with the keypad. Never use it. Why? Because I still have to take out the key and put it in the ignition to start it. If the truck came with a start button, I would use the key pad. It's just easier to push the one button on the key fob than 5 digits on the keypad.
With my 2015 Prius, all I had to do is have my key in my pocket, walk up to the car, the interior lights would come on by themselves, touch the handle, the door would unlock, get in and push the start button.
I think the bottom corner of the back glass was the best one I've seen on a hybrid since you can't put it inside the fuel door.Has anyone requested the dealer place it in a less prominent location? Any ideas?
It's a million times faster to just chuck a rock at your window instead if they want in.I don't get it ...what's to prevent someone from ripping it off and then trying at night to get into your truck until they find the right code.
Next trip to a salvage yard I may grab one to do just that. Anybody know what year and models use the battery oneMaybe anyone curious or those on the fence to purchase or not could make donations to have a designated "tester" to purchase one and take it apart to see if they battery could be replaced without destroying it. Just an off the wall thought.

I bought one for my 24 I'm going to have it programed but not mounted I'm going to attach cheap refrigerator magnet to back and keep in my console until I want to lock keys in truck and just stick it to door when neededHas anyone requested the dealer place it in a less prominent location? I had one on my '19 Ranger & the batteries were replaced 2 or 3 times by the dealer.I wouldn't mind the wireless if the battery were replaceable. But if I understand it right, when the battery dies, you have to buy a new one, cut/peel off old key pad, and install the new one because you can't replace the battery. If true, who's (not so) bright idea was that?!? That's a big no for me. If the battery were replaceable I'd definitely get one.
