my first thought, (being a woman) is now some creep can kidnap and kill and go off road!
I think I watch too many murder mystery shows....
As a dirty vanner, I would like to say that most creepers in vans are just dudes hanging out getting high.

I got the name. The Ford Maverick Star. Pays homage but keeps the family name. Give it a big glass roof panel option on the lux model and call it Starliner.
They’re probably not interested in Maverick heritage. ve different front end. It’s just another C2 platform vehicle.

Holy shit, what a meeting. So Ford previewed sketches of an affordable electric crossover, sedan, and truck, showed a mustang sedan, raptor mustang, and other mustang models, and revealed this. People who were in attendance called it the most positive and exciting company meeting in 5 years and said it's the first time in a long time that the future of Ford looked bright.

Hybrid Maverick van would sell like hotcakes, I believe.
Contractors, fleets, etc.
I wonder if the 4 door Mustang isn’t aimed partially at Australia. Their Falcon was a very nice sedan offered in everything from a flatbed Ute to a high end performance car.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they called it a Falcon for sales down under.

Well the Star was for small van heritage.

Ford's CEO has talked a lot recently about monetizing and expanding Ford brand names - they did it with the Mustang Mach E to much dismay in the Mustang community. They did it by calling a little Escape derivative a Bronco Sport. They'll keep doing it as long as it generates money. If the Maverick continues to be popular, they'll monetize the name in any way possible.

To answer the OP's question, I wouldn't buy a small van. But I'm not the target audience. It's mainly small businesses and tradesmen. But I will buy a tiny Ford BEV 2-door pickup or tiny "Ute" no matter what it's called.

Why does it look so much longer when you do that?

Oh ya, 200" is not that short. Just the bed is short. Still looks longer like that.

Looks like a hearse tho.

while I think it would be a good idea.... seems like you would wait till next generation that way you could figure out how to produce enough of all these variants. Seems like next gen Maverick they would be targeting 150K+ units to be able to produce

Yes! Same.length, but, with the roof heightened. Like this toopers height all throughout. With or without the "passenger" rear doors but no seats. Panel van would be amazing, like the HHR. Hybrid, Hybrid AWD, and all other variants. I would trade my Mav for the van.

I’m sticking with my truck. I think the panel van version will appeal to those that don’t need a full sized cargo van and those in the technical trades industry and service workers, including plumbing, electricians, parts delivery drivers, DJ’s, sports enthusiasts who need to haul bikes inside the van, campers, much more.

I can bet there would be reduced mpg due to added wind resistance with the height.

Back when I owned a DJ business and was a long distance cyclist, I had many different vehicles in my 22 1/2 years as a Mobile DJ. Anything from trucks with a cap and bed slide, full sized cargo vans, mini vans, and a Honda Element. The Element was probably my favorite of any vehicle I had. After I removed the rear seats completely, I had room to put both of my racing bikes standing up, and room enough for my sound system at the time. Had this Maverick Prototype van been around back in the day, it would have been a perfect vehicle for me!
Right now, I’m loving my hybrid truck!

Combining the "Bed" and Rear seat area. Should give you at least!
Seven + feet of Cargo length..

Extend the "bump up" to just behind the driver, add an angled window, and volia, the Maverick Vista Cruiser!
