I'd parked my car at the Calgary airport to go on a much needed vacation and came back to discover my truck had been pounded by a horrible hailstorm. After 4 hours on hold I finally got a claim started and now I'm playing the waiting game to get a damage estimate so I can find out whether insurance will cover repairs, total the truck or just hand me a cheque and tell me to get lost while they deal with the tens of thousands of other claims from this storm.
I FINALLY got the stereo installed and most of the smaller mods knocked off my list so this timing really sucks.

The hood is gone, roof is pretty bad and there are dings all over the upper half of the left side, front fender to the taillight, right fender has dings all over the top edge too.
Pardon the crappy videos, I was filming in the garage late at night after a few frosty adult beverages.

I don't think it would normally be enough to total it but a few autobody guys have said that it's "$20k in damage, easy" so depending on how quickly the insurer wants to handle the claim I guess it could go either way.

It may be the video but that isn't actually horrible for what hail damage can be, I don't see it being totaled. Expensive? Yup! Totaled? Shouldn't be.

your hood is toast, money wise better to replace it. the rest is doable.

Agreed, if it's me spending the money I'd replace the hood, PDR the bigger roof dents and most of the side then call the rest good enough.

Man that sucks. It's so prominent on the Hot Pepper Red. I would know. I would imagine not being totaled since it didn't do any mechanical damage, just cosmetic. I wish you the best. Hopefully insurance will be good to you.

I remember when my wife had her 05 Saab 9-2X turbo . It was 6 months old got hammered like yours. Didn't get tottaled, but they replaced every replaceable panel and trim piece nearly.

I think in 05 it was around 30k new, and damage was around 15k, took weeks to fix.

Yikes. Sorry to see that! I don't know if YYC has covered parking or not, but we get our share of hail here and I always try to park under a structure of some sort if I'm going to be away from my truck. Finding a covered spot here that isn't begging for door dings can be a challenge, but worth it. :)

So sorry about this. Gad, what a shock for you when you got back! Can't imagine what the hail would do to anybody who was caught in it. I hope you get your truck back to "normal" sooner than later.

Damn! They're not big but they're everywhere. Like others have said, I'd replace the hood, pdr the roof and sides. Be careful of the fly by night pdr techs that come into town when a hail storm hits. Try to find someone established in town. Good luck.

Exactly. A lot of people on this site act like they're driving a show truck, or some SEMA build.

Unless it affects functionality, hold onto the money. Maybe find a hood, have it resprayed. PDR is not cheap.

I'd take the money and run as well. Those dings can look beautiful, when you have a pocketful of cash.

I would take their cash and sit on it for a bit, park it out in the sun, and see if they don't come out on their own. I have heard other people say that in Texas and AZ the hail dents disappear with the high heat and sun.
