The very few images I've posted here, I referenced directly from my hard drive onto the web page. I suspect that they automatically get downsized so that they're not huge files.

Sounds like a beautiful trip. I really do need to get out west again. About 3 years ago, I drove up to Mt Rushmore and visited it, Badlands, Crazy Horse - even had a nice lunch in Sturgis with some friends. Just beautiful countryside out there.

Correction: The google images showed up, but those in your second post did not for some reason.

Sounds like fun. I was thinking I may do it too in a year or so. I may get a small trailer just to make it easier to stop and sleep at times without looking for a hotel all the time. About how much did your trip cost for hotels, gas etc. I live in NY so it will probably be twice what you spend. I know it won't be cheap but fun and lots of time to view the US sites.
We did not make reservations ahead of time for the most
part. Just looked up a place to stay on the phone when
we started to get tired.

Some "sketchy" places but not terrible.

Paid mostly about $100 some more a few less.
KOA Camper Cabin was the most expensive in St. Mary's at
$160+ but, your at Glacier and everything is pricey as can be.

I did get reserve at St. Martin's Hot Spring and Spa Carson WA
- GREAT PLACE!!!

Another gem on Route 66 was the Sunset Motel in Moriarty NM.
Route 66 vibs and nice rooms great owners!

I did not want to pull a trailer 6000 plus miles - We took
a tent with us for "camping" but never took it out of the box!!!

Thanks I'll see if I can fix it!!

(edit)
Should be fixed - If I try to upload direct to the forum I don't seem to get anywhere... Oh well! thanks!

Tim,
I grew up about five miles from St. Martins Hot Springs. My wife used to work there. It looked a lot different 30 years ago. That was a great trip you took - I recognized just about every place you had a photo of.

Leave that tent nicely folded in the Box. For emergency use only.
I almost never make reservations before we leave. Along the way maybe. It's a lot easier to make them along the way with a cell phone and the internet
I generally have rough idea of where we want to go. I never know what time I'm going to get there or if I even make it there.
I get sidetracked real easy on road trips. We've stayed in areas where we've said, 'Gee, if we had a reservations further down the road we would have missed this.'

Sounds great! We did a hot trip last summer when we got our Tremor. I think we did maybe lil better or about the same on mpg but we didnt have any load. Hit 120 degrees in Lake Havasu aswell, I hope you didnt need to clean the bugs off your windshield I couldnt keep fluid on the window long enough to do it!! Not sure when you were there but my dad and stepmom stopped in Miami OK last week to visit friends and get some lunch. The were on their way from McAllen TX to Dayton OH.

So much fun to do a trip like that. Sadly my Maverick have to spend the rest of its life on Maui, all 727 square miles of it. Glad you are out there road tripping for the rest of us.
Sorry it has to live on Maui, when visited there, couldn’t hardly get out of a Mustang in their narrow parking spaces seemed like every place we went, that Stang rental was pretty door dinged, park far out, ha. Island living going to take some use too, don’t think I could do it

The Maverick is the narrowest truck you can buy with nice short doors lol. Spaces are tight though, too close to Japan :ROFLMAO:. Still it's a good truck for the island. There is already more than 20 Mavericks I think. The AC blows hard enough to put some wind in my wife's hair and the Tremor spec gets us just about everywhere you can go. As we see in this thread it's also a great road trip vehicle. What can't it do? For a 5 seater truck with the basic layout and footprint of a midsized 80s sedan, it sure does just fit a lot of regular American tasks.

That's exactly how we do long road trips, we usually have a good plan for what region we are gonna stay in by lunch time. Than before we get hungry again my wife will start looking up some deals for the night. Anything with parking in front of the room and either a hot tub or a restaurant will do. Bonus points of the room has fake wood paneling!

What a fantastic trip! Glad to hear the Maverick did well in 3 digit temperatures. Mostly glad to hear you had no issues other than just enjoying our beautiful country. Thanks for sharing!

So true. The Maverick is the right truck at the right time. It's a pleasure to drive and tackles almost any call to duty.

Lake Havasu is best visited in Jan. Was there with a Scout troop at that time and the weather was perfect. Did you visit the 'London Bridge"?

Last spring made a trip to the midwest. While crossing Wyoming on I-80, encountered nearly 40 mph headwinds. With the cruise set at 84, mileage dropped to 24 and change from the typical tank of 43+.
