Selling my car on my own is the option I'm going with. I had emailed Ed at Chapman about the shipping and he said he didn't do that? So, do I need to contact Planet Ford to setup delivery? I live in Lubbock and wouldn't mind the drive to pick it up!
Wreck'em! Traylor vote here.
Also, there's a good Red Raider salesman to work with through Pollard Lubbock. I know him through RRS. I'll send along his info if you want to order locally.

I think a lot of us would luv the option to order locally. However, I don't think they are in a position to offer the 4% that Chapman is. Otherwise I'd order locally in a heartbeat!

Ordered from Ed. Local dealer was MSRP + $699 fee. Ed's price was $2,700 less. Flights from ATL are regularly less than $100. Myself, my husband, and a friend are going. We'll be back in GA within 14 hours.

Math makes no sense to ship it. No hotels needed.

FYI, just got an email from Ed. No longer doing courtesy deliveries. Had planned on getting it delivered to Planet Ford in Dallas. Not sure if it's worth the plane ticket and 1700 plus mile drive. I like saving money, but putting close to 2000 miles on new vehicle in just a couple of days has me rethinking my order.

The tax situation is a great point but my cheap/stupid ass is thinking of driving there, trading in my vehicle, and driving back (maybe taking a slightly different route).

Would I still get the tax savings if I traded in there?
Yes. It's charged in the state you register your vehicle. Not where you purchase it. They would do the tax conversion on your P&S.

That's great. In my mind Chapman is the only dealer deserving of any doc fee, regularly dealing with titles from up to all 50 states, lien payments probably, taxes/fees, registration, etc. For your regular joe shmoe dealer, $150 (cap here in Texas) to push papers is ridiculous.

Shipping or CD is free unless you decide not to accept the truck then you have to pay to ship it back to Chapman. So not spending $$ on plane ticket and 1000 mile road trip make sense to me. I just have to pay a local Ford dealer to hold the car for me to pick up.

I knew that CD was a possibility but I don't want to try to deal with the dealers around here. This is the first I'm hearing that shipping is free?

Well, I gave Chapman a chance. But, Granger has my business. All it took was a couple of emails, a signed order and now Ford has confirmed my Maverick order. I had originally emailed Chapman October 12th. I got my quote a week later, however it was radio silence for awhile. Then Monday I get an email saying they no longer can offer CD and asked if I still wanted to order. I replied yes...but...nothing. I would have preferred 4% below invoice...but...3% below and CD to Texas and a responsive sales team has won me over! Thanks Granger!!!

Just an update. The CD is being arranged between Chapman and my local Ford dealer. What would happen is Chapman Fleet manager will coordinate with my local Ford dealer's fleet manager and I write a check for the OTD which includes T/T/L plus the $200 holding fee. Chapman will then send the T/T/L plus $200 portion to my local Ford dealer where they would take care of the documents or paperwork. I also would have to pay a deposit in case I don't accept the truck so they can ship it back to Chapman. If I accept the truck then that deposit would go toward my payment for the vehicle. I got my order put in quickly by Ed. I got the confirmation from Ford that my order has been submitted. However, when I asked Ed a question it seemed taking him forever to get back to me which made me have doubts whether I should look else where before settling down on a deposit for the CD.

did you have to put down a deposit for the CD? This is in case you don't want the truck and it has to be sent back to Granger?

I actually just got the order in today. Waiting to hear back from fleet manager in Dallas. I'll keep you updated. Your lucky Ed put in your order at least. Basically 3 weeks emails and no order with Chapman.

I feel for you. I've had a hard time reaching Ed via email, phone, or text. He responds sparingly which makes it frustrating. I've been told that once my order goes in for production there's no backing out. In other words, if I put down a deposit for the CD then all is lost whether I want it or not. The car will go to my local dealer. I still have a few days to think it over while waiting for Ed to tell me how much the deposit for CD going to be. So many uncertainties given the material shortage with Ford kinda make me not have confidence in this whole thing.
