Does anyone know which wire in the tailight is the rear brake light only, not the rear tailight? I’m trying to wire in a high mounted brake light on my softtopper by splicing into the rear brake light wire. TIA!

There isn't a 'brake light only' wire since the same bulbs are used for turn signals. You would need to either tap and carry back a wire from the third brake light or use a brake light logic module which is a simpler version of the trailer tow module @Hot Runr Guy is referencing.

Hot Run Guy, based on your previous comments to others, you seem to know what your talking about. I'm trying to resolve two issues. One, I used the 12V power outlet in the truck bed to wire LED blue ground effect lights. Before having the recalls done recently at the dealership, my ground effect lights would go out within a minute or two. Now they stay on for about 50 minutes. Is this something the dealer did in the updates possibly changing the 'OFF' delay time from 1 min to 50 minutes? If yes, how do I change it back (do I need a computer program like Forscan to make the changes)? My second issue is I have already installed a tailgate LED light strip but need to wire it into the tail lights. I believe I want to use the wiring on the tail light side vs the truck side (cheaper to replace tail light wiring if I screw up). I understand the hassle of taking it apart again to remove the tail light from the truck. I know what the wiring colors on my tailgate LED strip go to but not what wires to connect them to on the tail lights itself. Any help would be awesome. Thank You!! Ron

Ron, thanks for the kind words, but I'm no guru. I'm unable to access the Forscan spreadsheet, but the time-out for the in-bed power outlets might have a setting there. Maybe someone else can comment?

As far as the LED tailgate light strip, I've read enough postings over the years to know they can be problematic. It seems like the Maverick does not like direct-wired (to tailights) taps for the LED strip, it thinks a trailer is attached, starts disabling features, etc. It seems like the most reliable method is to use a Curt trailer wiring harness, which can draw power from the 12V in-bed connector, and has plug & play connectors between the vehicle harness and the tailights. https://www.curtmfg.com/part/56477

Hope this helps, HRG

HRG, I'll do more research if there is a time-out on the bed power outlets. The Curt trailer wiring harness cost about $87; my LED light strip was under $15. If I can't wire it direct, I'll remove and discard it in the trash. Initially, I did wire it to the trailer wiring and it worked great, but the dash did say trailer connected. I removed the LED strip wiring from the trailer wiring. I got 20 hrs invested looking for a video or diagram showing what the tail light itself wires represent as far as brake, turn, running, reverse. Thanks for responding. Ron

Ron, doesn't this diagram give you the colors you need?

White/Green Left turn

Violet/Green tail lamps (left side)

Gray/Violet Right turn

There was someone that posted how to wire to the trailer plug without the truck thinking that a trailer was connected. Involved switching a couple wires in the four way that you wire your device to. I'll see if I can find it but will be tomorrow.... You cannot tap into the tail light wiring as adding bulbs to those wires will increase the current and cause error codes to pop up. That's why the curt system is used. It detects a light is on and used separate power from battery to power the new added bulbs using relays.

MakinDoforNow, I'm adding LED bulbs or actually a tailgate LED strip. This will still cause error codes? Aren't there folks in this forum wiring direct to the tail lights without issues?

HRG, this diagram is for the connector on the truck side instead of the wiring on the tail light itself. Ron
