Tailight Removal for LEDs

I finally was successful in getting them out. Took lots of prying and 3 of the 4 grommets pulled out with the tailight assembly. 2 of those sheared off their anchor points to the body so I had to glue them back in to the sheet metal.
Don't know what the deal was with mine other than it was chilly, 40s outside temps which took away some of the flex of the anchors.
Anyway, all is well now as long as the backups or other bulbs in there don't burn up....

I remember a past post about replacement grommets from Ford, some early trucks had issues with not enough tension on the rubbers.
I can't find it , maybe someone with better search skills can find it?

Yea, I tried 'taillights pop out', and got several answers.

So far I haven't had any issues with the light unit itself popping out since I reinstalled. I knew you don't tighten the side screws very tight at all, just snug.
I am going to have to remove the right one again as that Lasfit reverse light has quit working. In fact, I'm going to return the Lasfit bulbs and buy Auxito. My old faithful brand. Cheaper too...

I also struggled trying to remove the tail light assembly just like the OP. I did not succeed and abandoned the project as trying to force it with the gaffer tape trick, I heard a cracking sound and stopped there being afraid to break something. I actually broke something because the left side assembly is now more slack than the right side.

My guess is on new models, Ford replaced the grommets with stronger material. May be that's why on all YouTube videos it pops right out like a charm but not with a 25-26 model. I have seen a few videos where the guy struggle but the film is stopped and then you see the guy with the assembly in his hand without showing us really what he did to remove it.

I have purchased this kit Ordered on Amazon but I will return it and stay with the oem. I am not going to risk damaging my brand new truck. I only had it for a couple weeks.
