I think that lifting increases the probability of having CV joint issues, perhaps.

On another thread, someone pointed out discussions here where he cited some 12 or so threads showing axle/CV issues. Roughly half were lifted and half were not. But there are a heck of a lot more non-lifted Mavericks out there than lifted ones.
And people that modify a vehicle are more likely to be on a forum for said vehicle. I am sure there are many more people with stock Mavericks that have replaced axles/CVs then those that are lifted. It is a design problem that may be exacerbated by lifting. Are more people with Tremors having issues? They have a factory lift and the same axles to my knowledge.

Has anyone had the time to check for OEM upgrades? We already have the Volvo brake mods. All we need is a axle with the smae splines and diameters and just a touch more length. It worked for the AMC Eagles and GM S10 or FWD 80s Caddy shafts. Many other vehicles have have found upgrades like that, often in their own parts bin.

Anyone measure Corsair shafts? Focus RS? Edge ST? Taurus SHO?

You would literally need to purchase everything that looks like it might be close to the same and do all the measurements from there. As far as cross referencing part numbers, these axles only fit the Maverick and nothing else.

I bought Chinese axles for my Volvo when the dealer wanted $600+ a side. Paid $65 at Advance Auto came with lifetime warranty. After eight years still no issues.

I'd rather go that route when the time comes. Although someone did find a Ford axle supplier that was $140 shipped per side which isn't bad for OEM axles if they didn't fail after 20k miles.

What a shame. Can't wait for Advance Auto to stock these.

is there actually a significant problem with ecoboost axles? I've seen many more report of them failing on hybrids. the biggest power Maverick ecoboost trucks -at least those who post and share info- all are still on their stock axles.

I havent looked but rockauto often has spline counts and shaft diameters listed for various parts. Maybe the Mavericks arent on there yet but maybe some other ones that are a little older might be on there. Someone with a close relationship to a large ford dealer or even a regular parts store could also request to examine replacement parts. I have alot of other things going on, but if someone wanted to they could get out there and look. Back in Ohio i used to got to an autozone that would let me go in back and search for what I needed when I had to adapt things to fit weird combinations, like starters on motors they werent intended but could be shimmed. Switching caps on u joints to fit driveshaft swaps. Heck alot of these CVs are rebuildable, their may be an inner and outer combination that can work as an upgrade.

These things take time usually a bunch of them have to be in the wrecking yard before all the lil tricks cans be figured out. We will get there, one enthusiast endeavor at a time.

Tasca Ford parts has them for about $111. I put the links in another comment

Just adding my 2 cents. I have a 23 ecoboost maverick and at 14000 miles it is going to Ford tomorrow to be looked at as my passenger side cv axle is now leaking on the inner boot small side. No lift or anything of that sort. Very disappointed, I love my Maverick but this will certainly ruin the ownership as I fought with leaking CV axles on a 2019 Ranger and ditched it. I appreciate you looking into a solution on this, if I had more money I would take part but Ford will have to be the one to take this cost on for me.

Keep in mind that warranties run out, so these parts would be available to you in the future when the time comes where you would need to replace them on your own dime.

Definitely! It is a great idea to get ahead of the ball. I do the extended warranty so I will be good for a while, but I definitely won't keep this one past a warranty. I am hoping they iron out some of the quality issues with future refreshes.

I have read in other posts that these axles are sourced from Hundai. Can anyone confirm?

I think we need to complain enough so that a recall is initiated. Is this something we can complain to the NHTSA about?

My lowered FX4 got a passenger side axle replaced under warranty at 35k miles
I’m shocked the parts stores don’t have axles already…. I mean I haven’t checked but those people are pretty smart when it comes to selling parts
