I received my truck Jan 23 and installed the ford branded hard rollup tonneau cover. I’ve had issues since last spring with felt lining keep falling off. The best the manufacturer wanted to do was to replace with a new felt that has a better glue. Well… it has been 2 attempts with 2 replacements and they still come unglued. Worse is they release glue all over items in the bed making them sticky. @Ford Motor Company, my dealer is attempting to get the manufacturer to replace cover with the new updated model which has rubber pieces instead of felt, but BAK supposedly has been reluctant. Anyone with this issue, please chime in. I just read Motor Trend article stating the issue happened with their test vehicle multiple times. $1200 is hard on the wallet, especially with this design flaw Ford hard rollup tonneau cover

Samesies. I love the security it provides, and I like the Ford logo on it because I'm a nerd. It also keeps an impressive amount of water out of the bed even in heavy rains.

However.... almost all of the felt is gone leaving a gooey mess, and the vinyl or whatever it is that makes the top of the cover is starting to crack where it bends between the aluminum slats when you fold it up. And why are the female ends of the plastic snaps that you put the retaining straps in not facing upward? Releasing the straps to unroll the cover over the bed is a multi-step process when it doesn't need to be.

Okay. I'm done bitching. For now.🤣

Yikes - that's terrible, especially for $1,200. Ouch.

I believe the Bak which looks identical has the same exact issues.

The purpose of the felt is to insulate from heat. Prevents you from burning your hand when rolling it up on hot days. I removed the felt and any residue with GooGone. PITA but It looks much better. Yesterday in 98 degree weather I rolled it up, no burn issues. Yes it was warm but so was everything else. You only need to touch tonneau for seconds at a time to roll up.
It’s your choice of course but I have no regrets getting rid of the eyesore all together.

I have had the same issue. The dealer has replaced it once so far, but I have a feeling it'll come undone again. Considering the cost, I feel like we got junk. Adhesive felt doesn't work well and summers in the South will repeatedly show this. Mine fell off within 3 months. Every Maverick I've seen in the wild with the same setup is dealing with the felt issue.

I have exactly the same problem. I would get rid of them if it weren't for the glue that's left on the cover. Seems to be a matter of just getting wet through a car wash or heavy rain. At first it was one side, now the other side as well. Very glad to see this post… I didn't know which direction to turn.

I have the factory Ford installed hard roll-up tonneau, and have no regrets. During Monsoon, some water will get in, but very little.

My one complaint is that I do NOT have the Ford logo that shows when it is rolled up. Otherwise, I am super happy that I ordered it!

...and that answers my other question. GooBGone is my next purchase.

Seems like what u have is the updated model that doesn’t have the ford logo on the slats, which I assume have rubber on the sides of the aluminum? Mine is previous model with felt. I want them to at least replace with newer model.

UPDATE:
My man Jared @ Price Ford Turlock was in contact with the manufacturer abt the ongoing issue. He got them to finally send a replacement cover. I appreciate he was in constant contact with me during the process. I do miss that ford logo, but I’m more grateful that I won’t have goo all over the bed and burned hands.

I bought my cover second hand from someone on this site. I won’t get into the details of that situation as it was t pleasant but I was excited for my cover! Unfortunately the felt came off of mine within a week of summer heat. The. The glue that holds the rubber gasket started to release as well. I have cleaned the glue from the felt, fixed the ford logo (missing a stamp to hold one slat in place), re-glued the seals as best I could. I filed for a warranty issue through the manufacturer’s site, they gave me a recall/case number. I was told to take it to my dealer. He took it from there in working with ford but claims they won’t do anything. So here I am with a used cover that cost $900 that fell apart within the first month of me owning it. So far this summer it seems to be holding up better but then Again there isn’t much left to fall off of it! LOL

So, do I badger my dealer? Now I'm thinking the felt falls off because of heat, not water. And my cover lets water in the back.
