Hawaii island, average speed is 45mph. For the last 34,000 miles my average is 49mpg. I drive in normal mode 99% of the time. I'm sure if I lived on the mainland those number might be a little lower but I've trained myself to keep the needle under the first mark and run on battery till it needs a charge.

Don't use L in the heat. Don't use L when ambient is above about 75°F.

In city traffic L can warm your battery as much as 2 degrees per minute.

Normal mode will be less than 1 degree and Slippery mode will be less than half of one degree. I've tested this with diagnostic tool.

L heats up the battery internally VERY fast. Regeneration creates internal heat so unless it is cold outside you want to do it gently.

Also, don't forget: L does not turn on your brake lamps but you are slowing as fast as if you are braking. Not really a wise choice in traffic.
Newby hybrid owner, just over 1K miles. On recent road trip, I hit something on the steering wheel that put the radio info on the dash. Clicked a few other buttons and managed to reset my mileage! I see folks saying what they have averaged over the life of their vehicle. Is there a way to find what you have averaged over the life of the vehicle other than keeping a manual tally?

Thanks

What trim do you have? I know the Lariat has a Trip 2 that is not visible by default (at least mine wasn’t). I plan on not resetting Trip 2 If I can so I have that comparison available. I might uncheck it and hide it until I want to look at it again.

I have the Lariat. I'll have to find the trip 2. As I said, I reset my last trip halfway to returning home so hope that was Trip 1.

Keep a manual tally if "lifetime" mpg really matters to you.

The truck computer holds 5000 miles worth of mpg data if you never reset. It's a rolling average that shows your most recent 5000 miles, the oldest data is overwritten. Like a security camera recorder. FIFO - First In First Out memory.

For some, 5000 is a year. For some that may be one season.

But it is your lifetime average if you've yet to go 5000 miles!

This is for XL and XLT but a good chance this is true in Lariat.

Short trip, no a/c & did not obstruct traffic. One traffic light on route was green for me. Residential area with speed limits of 25 & some 35mph Excess time in parking lot waiting to get on street (in electric mode).

1,000 mi in, and I'm getting pretty close to the window sticker using normal mode. I haven't noticed a major difference with eco mode so far, probably due to highway-heavy driving. Averaging ~41-42 when I keep the speed down and do a little more city driving (50/50) on the weekend. More like 38-39 setting cruise on 70-75 mph and 80% highway, 20% city during a normal work week with a 30-mi commute. Pretty happy so far - I thought I'd definitely be in 33-34 range with how much I'm on the interstate and running the AC.

Give Eco mode a try. I use it exclusively and am averaging 44 mpg over 25k miles. The extra regen makes me feel way more in control too.
How much of your driving is city vs highway?

Where in the Toronto area are you?
It would be nice if you could convert everything to km's for is Canadian Folks! I'm in Ottawa so similar weather (but we're usually colder and hotter)...

just multiply everything he said by 1.6 (of course, if he mentioned how many children along the way, he might send you a bill for his extra mouths to feed 🤪 !)

In my new maverick lariat hybrid at the 1000 mile mark with a mixture of city and highway driving I’m getting about 35mpg. I’ve had some folks report on YouTube and chat rooms crazy numbers like 45mpg etc. am I missing something? Does my driving generally suck or are there better ways to improve fuel economy? :)
Inching to 42 now that fall is here in New Mexico 😃

I don't remember what figures I had stated, but I usually convert to miles and gallons since there are so many more US folks here than us Canadians lol.
