I originally started with a ‘22 Lariat hybrid on 2/2/22. I later ordered a ‘23 because my mileage was racking up and I figured it would be a year in production. In July, 2023 I even traded my ‘22 with 28k miles for my new ‘23 Lariat hybrid with 10 miles. I never had much of an issue with the ‘22 except with a couple recalls like the airbag and the damage to the interior followed by replacing several trim pieces. I loved my Mav and looked forward to another great, problem free Mav until yesterday.

I woke up to a rainy Sunday, my day to do weekly shopping. I headed down the road 2 miles when I realized I wasn’t able to accelerate over 35 mph. Then wrench and engine lights came on along with slipper/skid light. Several warnings like service required, advanced device trac and a couple others flashed. I pulled over, shut down, waited a few minutes and restarted. As I pulled back on the road my truck accelerated to 35 mph without my foot on the brake. Instead of chancing it I turned around and the truck drove me back at 35 mph without using the gas pedal! Fortunately my brakes worked.

This morning I plan on emptying the truck before it gets towed to a dealer in SC in case this ends up a month long service appt like some I’ve read about. I just hope I can get a hybrid loaner since I have a 60 mile daily trip and a drive to FL in 10 days🤞🏻

Can’t help but wonder how my ‘22 Maverick is doing🤔

Hopefully it's a quick fix and they have the parts on hand or get them quickly. If your 60 mile round trip has majority hwy and that includes 2 lane hwy I hope they have an ecoboost Maverick as a loaner. You just maybe pleasantly surprised. In any case hope it's a quick fix and you get your truck back ASAP.

I was planning for a oil change before we take a 1300 mile round trip to Kansas in July.

Gonna be insisting that there is no recall work done until all this gets straighten out.

Thanks! I would be happy to try an Ecoboost but my drive is 2 lane back roads where I usually average 48-54 mpg👍🏻

As a matter of fact I had a recall done at the beginning a couple weeks ago after another recall 2 months ago. Since then I constantly get that message about location data collection, the radio automatically comes on when I start the truck and after the last recall and recent rain I had water pooled on the driver side rubber mat. The carpet mat and carpet were soaking wet also. Hoping for no more recalls🤞🏻🤣🤣

As long as you don't have many stops you possibly get good mileage on the 2.0. Seeing I have no way to assume hills, stop signs etc but with 2 lane hwy the 2.0 shines besides regular freeway. It just has to be going fast enough to run in high gear or 8tg gear, from what I've been told.

Sounds like you have a leak somewhere and as a result one of the electronic modules got wet, resulting in strange behavior. Good luck. Not getting my recalls done anytime soon.

That recall a few weeks ago is your problem. Several members here have experienced similar problems to yours after having recalls done in Feb- Mar time frame. Something about bad software, I understand. @KevCuRaoi has made several posts discussing a fix for a this by Ford sometime as of late March. Check his his recent posts.

Sorry to hear this. I hate to beat a dead horse but this is part of the reason why I shied away from the Hybrid with so many electrical issues creating safety hazards. Like others have mentioned, you should be okay with an Ecoboost loaner, especially if you're traveling mostly highway for your 60 mile round trip. I have first hand experience and can attest to this. On the highway, the 2.0 excels. Around town trips it does seem to struggle and only average in the low-mid 20s for fuel economy. However, on the highway, you can easily achieve the low-mid 30s which is very good. I've gotten mine as high as 36 which is almost the combined fuel economy rating as the Hybrid.

LOL, 😂 I’d accept a horse at this point! It turns out there is only one dealer within 50 miles that has loaners and they have a waitlist of 19 ahead of me😱 I’m waiting on the tow truck which should be here in the next 2 hours! I’m hoping it will be an easy reprogramming to fix the 35 mph top speed issue and then I can get a loaner in FL on my 5/8 appt. while they fix the things they screwed up🤞🏻

Unfortunately, unless you have Ford Protect you won't get a loaner, unless the dealer is exceptional, and even then it won't be hybrid.

This is a huge deal. Please take some time to fill out the NHTSA form that others are doing as well on the issue.

OP, please take 30 seconds and report to NHTSA at the link in the previous post. You'll be helping the whole community. It really is 30 seconds - I've filled one out myself.
