I hear good things about Wix oil filters but it seems every picture online has different inlet hole shapes and sizes such as the unit I picked up today locally. Says made in America.

Are folks ok with these smaller inlet holes ?

Thx -

interesting, maybe the oval holes allow sufficient flow while keeping more material around the edge for strength. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah I don't know some folks on Amazon we're getting filters with only like 4 holes and metal shavings. Assuming those were counterfeit.

never ran into anything like that and I've been using WIX forever but you make an interesting/important point. Know the source and inspect the product.

Buy them in bulk from RockAuto. Do NOT buy them from Amazon. I've been using Wix for a long time and recently switched to the Wix XP because it's only a few extra bucks.

I bought locally from O'Riley - No Amazon for me.

How much were they? Should be a little cheaper from Rockauto.
That's just it. I wanted to see and hold what I was actually getting. Didn't want an online order surprise -

Believe the Motorcraft filters manufactured by Purolator, to Ford specs.
Herman makes a good point. I don't remember the exact number, but back about 50 years ago, one of the car magazines printed an article on who manuractured what when it came to oil filters. It turned out that all of the oil filters in the world came from THREE manufacturers, or some ridiculously low number like that. At the time, the best filters were coming from Purolator.

Since the advent of synthetic oils and companies like Amzoil and Mobil 1, with their own filters, I don't know who is "best" anymore. I WAS ENCOURAGED TO HEAR FROM CAJUNMICK THAT MOTORCRAFT FILTERS ARE FROM PUROLATOR.

Purolator is owned by Mann Hummel a German company. Btw they also own 90% of the oil filter market, including Wix. I run Wix on all of my cars, they have a better case and substrate.

Isn't it all about the microns and filtering ability ?
