My 2022 XLT Hybrid pulled that sh*I last Friday on interstate 95 at 70 mph, as I was merging after letting a class 1 pass a truck, fortunately I was getting back in the right lane and was able to pull onto the service lane pulling the camper. We sat while talking to the Stealership but got disconnected, I restarted the truck and drove to the campground, on the return trip it happened again but 20 miles from home, shut it off, let it sit ten minutes, restarted drove home, took it in for the instrument cluster recall and this, Stealership had it overnight, said the SOB module wasn't talking to the PCM module and it does not. Had it out on the interstate today, no problemo I'm praying because we are going out west in a few weeks on a camping adventure.
Praying Toyota comes out with a comparable truck soon the Tacoma ain't even close.
It’s almost like you have to drive these trucks in the far right hand lane only while driving on Highway.
This happening in the fast lane and having to get over, I couldn’t even imagine.

I just looked at the HHTSA.gov website. For some reason, the hybrid 2023’s show no recalls reported (which we know is NOT true), and no complaints filed. Yet the 2022 hybrids show 300 complaints and 9 recalls. I didn’t look at 2024’s yet. Most all the 2022’s recent complaints are specifically this exact same problem of power loss, numerous warning messages, limp mode, and auto acceleration if brakes are not applied. But we keep hearing about 2023’s with this same failure too. It all seems to tie to a failure with software update 24C01/24V140 (Issue Date
2024-02-23).

What a scary/deadly failure! Won’t accelerate when you step on the gas pedal, and automatically accelerates when you take your foot off. What a deadly combination of circumstances —all created by fubar’d software!

If someone gets killed in an accident because of this, it might not even be immediately obvious what happened (or reported on a forum like this)? Forum members have reported that once the truck is “off” for 5-10 minutes after having these problems, all the codes clear and the truck is back to “normal” again. It’s to the point where other forum members who brought their truck in for repair were told dealers could not find or replicate the these issues. Post accident, the truck might not show the problems anymore. How the F! can this technology NOT keep a log of these errors!!

Technology is downright scary these days, and from what I understand off this forum, Ford doesn’t even own the code. They outsource it. I also haven’t read of anyone being able to rollback an update such as 24C01/24V140. The update(s) itself is ironic at best, as this update is meant to correct a LACK of warning lights but instead ends up causing them and nearly killing people. I think this is now at least two different recall updates now that were designed to correct a failure to illuminate a warning light (with the other being the taillight bulb warning recall).

If there IS a “fix” for this, only time will tell if it’s really gone. The joy of intermittent unexplainable technology issues. More is NOT always better. When will humans learn enough is enough?
My daughter drove her new 2023 Maverick XL Hybrid for almost 7 months and 9,000+ miles with zero issues...She decided to use her ford pass points and have it serviced and undercoated at the same time at local Omaha Dealership.....Now for the recalls...2 updates installed and less than a week later vehicle stalls at busy traffic light..dash lights/warnings go crazy..limp to Dealership..acts like cruise control is stuck on...very dangerous. Emergency brake locks and violently throws my daughter into the dash..wtf..Dealership has it for a couple of days and returns vehicle.."Good to go", they said...Couple days later same issues and Emergency brake just comes on and ..here we go again, lucky nobody was killed..very dangerous..Now my daughter is terrified to drive this vehicle.!!.Ford customer service has offered some free oil changes and tire rotations...What a joke.....Anyone know a good lawyer?

What recalls were performed the first time before the first loss of power issue?

After it happened again and was “fixed”, did you contact the dealer again? What are they doing to do to fix the issue this time?
Did she get a loaner?
Your daughter and I have a lot in common. Lol
We both have Ford Maverick hybrids that ran 100% issue free, perfect for 1000’s of miles until we decided to get the recall updates done. 🙃
The golden rule rings true..
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it…

A lot of folks have had problems when they got the tail light blinker warning may fail recall updated. My blinkers are working fine. I'm not taking mine in. It's running just fine. 24 Hybrid XLT. 2033 miles. Had it since December 3.

I can’t believe it.
I drove my truck 1,000 miles without issue after the updates… Updates performed on 3/8/2024.
I was thinking that I was in the clear after reading about the issues after updates on hybrids. Specifically 2022’s. Wonder if the 23’s are having this issue?
I drove it for hours on the freeway without any issues and drove it around the city without any issues after updates until today..

All of a sudden today, in the rain while driving home, suddenly the (Drive) Shift knob light was flashing, warnings started flashing, hill start assist not available, service vehicle soon, pre collision assist not available, service advance Trac, and parking brake applied automatically and total loss of power….
I almost got into an accident in the rain and school traffic because the people driving behind me were going fast and my truck just suddenly lost power and I had those cars coming from behind that had to swerve out of my way because they were driving crazy (like they always do) and than swerved back in front of me after getting around me, almost hitting me multiple times from the back and than the front driver side.
I managed to get it pulled off to a side street and turned it off and back on and still had no power and all the lights/warnings were still on.

When you press on the gas, it wouldn’t go….
No throttle response.
What’s really crazy is, when I let off the brake and was NOT pressing the gas, it would start to accelerate all on its own up to about 28/29 mph all on its own, acting like it was in cruise control.
I am terrified and scared and worried about my truck now. I had ZERO issues before the updates. I drove it across the country with no issues before the updates…
Now I feel like I can’t trust my beloved truck.

I took it to my dealer right away before turning it off and showed them the issues and they luckily gave me a Bronco Sport loaner.

I’m so worried now about my maverick hybrid.
I should have never gotten those updates done.

This is the most unsafe and dangerous thing that that has ever happened to me in a vehicle.
It happened at total random and its such a major issue/safety hazard that I’ve ever heard of or experienced with any brand of vehicle and I’ve owned dozens of vehicles.

Im at a loss of words, disappointed and literally shaken up because the truck just almost got me into an accident on a 35 MPH road in heavy rush hour/school traffic in the rain, in less than favorable/slick conditions.
Thank god I wasn’t on the freeway like some of you experienced with these same issues at Highway speeds. I couldn’t even imagine this happening on the highway.
When it happens you don’t even know how to react. There’s really nothing you can do besides pull over and hope for the best under these circumstances. It all happens so fast.
This issue is going to end up hurting or worse someone.

total loss of power on the road and than accelerating on its own?
That’s pure insanity.

Now I’m worried that they won’t be able to recreate the issue and give it back to me unresolved and it will just happen again.

please say a prayer for my family and to anyone else’s who is affected by these issues.
It’s an extremely dangerous and worrisome matter.
I’ll be contacting NHTSA and anyone else I can to file complaints tomorrow.

This issue is the worst of any car issue I’ve ever experienced in my entire life and now I wonder, will my truck ever be dependable and reliable ever again? Will I ever be able to trust my beloved Maverick Hybrid ever again?

Did any of you with these issues get it resolved?
What was the fix?

Thank you for documenting all this! The exact same thing happened to me today while stopped at a light! I was panicking too much memorize all the error messages flashing at me while I blocked traffic in the center lane 😳

I had the same issue after having the recalls for the turn signal. And I was driving on interstate in fast lane during rush hour. Very scary situation. The ford dealership said they updated/ reprogrammed my truck. They kept it for a week. I have not had any issues since but I don’t trust it anymore. When I do drive on interstate to work I stay in slow lane just in case it goes crazy. I’m thinking about selling it. It was the best truck I ever bought getting 45+ miles per gallon just don’t feel safe anymore.

Just joined the forum here to report that the exact same series of events happened to me last night in my 22 hybrid XLT. Just dropped it off at the dealership. Hopefully I have a decent resolution soon.

Hi Robert! I can look into your maverick's loss of power concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your maverick's VIN?

Honestly, I feel like these Ford Software Updates are doing nothing. They may be trying to band aid the problem instead of replacing the source of the issue (possibly the dc/dc converter). Since this is only happening to hybrids and not the ecoboosts, the problem can be narrowed down to a physical part (or software coding) that only the hybrid has. One of the parts unique to the hybrid is the dc/dc converter. and this part is not cheap. This part is also in the ford escape hybrid. I think this is more likely to be the issue. I am thinking more and more software is NOT the issue. another reason I think this is because everyone posting their codes after this loss of power has a TON of codes and they differ from others that experience the same loss of power. This points to an electrical issue rather than something mechanical. I think these dc/dc converters could be the issue the more I look into it. I wonder if this dc/dc converter could be tested!

Talked to dealer but they don’t have a vehicle for me to drive so not sure when it will get fixed. I have to work tomorrow so not sure if I should drive it and chance happening again and getting stranded. The dealer told me not to drive it. So under warranty which includes a rental in my contract but none available? And I can’t drive the Maverick so…

I finally got a response from the dealer and it will be next Monday before they can get me something to drive. So almost a week with no vehicle. This is unacceptable @Ford Motor Company

Not sure how to get the shops to do this or make sure they do it, but the one thing that most people are having problems on here have is , hybrid trucks, and most are having a low voltage problems before taking them in to have them reflashed ,even if you don't know it. The factory batteries are weak to say the lest. They MUST be connected to something like the PowerMax PMBC Battery Charger & Charger Maintainer . When I had my up-dates done I had them connect my battery to one while up-dates were being done. No problems so far .

4. Voltage Supply

Some reflash sessions can last more than 45 minutes. If the battery voltage drops below a set voltage, the reflashing process will stop and possibly damage the module. Voltages are changing and can vary from 12 to 14 volts. Check the OEM’s website for information.

Note: Your old battery charger should not be used. There are battery chargers/power supplies made specifically for reflashing that can deliver the correct voltage and amps during the procedure.
