There are people in the forum who don't believe this recall is the fix for the Maverick because the recall doesn't include wording close to saying, "engine/power failure while driving at high speeds". I am one of those who believe that this recall should fix that issue. Should I get a notification that I need this recall, I'm doing it. Better to be safe than sorry.

My truck lost power today while driving. I had recall 23E09 reprogram PCM done on 2/23/24 so hoping this new recall fixes it but I'm not optimistic.

2023 Hybrid, built 1st week of July 2023. 15,000 km / 9,300 mi. Toronto, Canada.

Three updates done this morning:
24S27 - BCM Software Update (tail lamps)
24C01 - IPC Software Update (instrument cluster backlight)
23P18 - PCM Reprogramming (DTC P2282 - TB Air Leak)

Going to give it a good 150mi rip tomorrow and see how it goes. Haven't had any problems since I took delivery in Aug 2023. Fingers crossed this latest ver of the 23P18 is stable and solves the NTHSA 23V26700 "Loss of Drive Power from Undetected Low Battery" problem... although I have NOT experienced it.

(Interesting to me: Service tech warned me these updates may span days; he had seen the 23P18 PCM update take 14h... so I was prepared to leave it overnight. He called me 2h later saying it was ready to pick up. *shrug*)

Just had three recalls done today, 24c01, 23c41 & 23e09. About an hour after leaving dealer lost power, barely got to a place to pull off highway. Shift knob was flashing, warnings started flashing, hill start assist not available, service soon, pre collision assist not available, service advance Trac, and parking brake applied automatically. Called the dealer and they were perplexed. After about 5 minutes & turning ignition on & off I got power back. A '23 XLT Hybrid, 1 year old, 7500 miles. Maybe best not to do recalls !! I see others on here with the same outcome after recall fixes. I had told service guy how much I liked my Maverick but noticed in this forum quite a few complaints. He replied if you get a good one they are great but are plenty that aren't so great. After waiting almost 2 years and now this..... Come on Ford, don't tell us to get a recall when it makes matters worse & potentially dangerous. Check engine light still on but was not able to pull any codes, leading me to believe will go out on its own, but will this continue to happen ??
A recall was just posted for this.

Description
Our records indicate that your vehicle recently received an update to the hybrid powertrain control module hpcm software calibration. This hpcm software can result in a forced neutral condition while driving resulting in the vehicle coasting to a stop and automatically shifting to park, along with a wrench light, multiple warning messages in the instrument panel cluster and an audible chime. After shifting back into drive the vehicle will enter a limp home mode which provides limited torque at low speeds up to 30MPH.
Safety Risk
A loss of motive power can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to update the powertrain control module pcm software free of charge parts and labor.

As mentioned, 150mi mostly-highway today and nothing to report. Flawless... so far.

2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid Lariat FWD Pickup Truck, MFD 09/22 VIN 3FTTW8E35NRA91402,

10/31/22 Purchased new from Koons Ford Baltimore at 6970 Security Blvd.

10/2/23 9,467 miles oil change at Koons Ford Baltimore where I purchased it

2/12/24 12,777 miles for 3 safety recalls, software updates, 23E07, 23E09, 23C41, which took over 6-hours running into complications, Koons wanted to keep truck overnight, I said no

3/28/24 13,460 miles - Vehicle Health Report – All systems checked show Green and Good

3/28/24 14,050 miles - engine shuts down twice, after 1.5 hrs, then 1 hr, highway speeds 70 mph showing several service alerts, electric driving

3/29/24 Friday 0830 14,050 miles drop off truck at Koons dealer to fix; they provided a Hertz rental.

4/9/24 Tues Koons Ford calls to say the truck is ready. They replaced the Battery/ Smart junction box

4/15/24 Mon I returned Hertz rental to Koons and picked up my truck, it was over the 10-days, 17 days.

4/27/24 Submitted complaint 11585606 https://www.nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem#vehicle/form-submit

5/10/24 The Maverick shut down three times while driving on a highway around 70 mph during a 400-mile trip. We had to wait approximately 20 minutes each time for the engine to cool off and for the electric mode to be reset so we could continue.

5/13/24 NY Ford dealer diagnosed and reports: U1010 is present, Hybrid Powertrain Control Module is suspected to be bad. They said it would take a few days to get a new PCM from the warehouse. I couldn’t wait, so I left for MD to have Koons Ford Baltimore fix the problems.

5/13/24 Shutdown 4x while driving on the highway around 70 mph during the 400-mile return trip. I had to wait approximately 20 minutes each time for the engine to cool off and reset from electric mode to continue. Fortunately, there were no accidents.

5/21/24 Dealer reports issues fixed by updating BCM and PCM software for recalls, 23s27 UNDER HOOD FIRE, 24527 BODY CONTROL MODULE BCM SOFTWARE UPDATE, and 24s33 POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE PCM SOFTWARE UPDATE, the one I and many others are hoping fixes the problem with our engines shutting down. Time and long trips, 200+ miles will tell.

7/4/24 FYI my 2022 Hybrid Maverick was fixed by 24S33 on 5/21/24. I have driven two 400-mile trips without shutting down as it did nine times prior to getting the PCM software update for 24S33. I hope everyone has a happy and safe 4th of July, and thank those who helped Ford and NHTSA with info. to get this fixed.
