I have never had anyone tell me mine is not a real truck. Most of the folks I meet like it a lot.

I recall the same kind of comments on some pickup forums years ago when the Honda Ridgeline came out, most of it from the type that has to lift and put matchbox wheels on his overpriced diesel clunker with a stovepipe exhaust. I was always a fan from afar of the concept but the first Ridgeline was ugly (and overpriced). El Caminos and Rancheros don't exist around here anymore so I had full size pickups and an '03 Ranger reg cab.

The Maverick is as capable in towing and hauling as I need the majority of the time (and an economical and comfortable daily in the mean time). For those times it isn't, I still have a low miles 12 valve Dodge 2500 (stock height) and if that isn't enough, I have class 7 and 8 trucks to do the job.

When I pull my M923 military truck out I can look down on all these wannabee jacked up pickup trucks and laugh!

Yea I dunno, it's as big as my dad's truck from 20 years ago, bigger than my grandpa's truck from 50 years ago. Does truck things.

Just because it doesn't have a staircase across the grill to reach the cab doesn't mean it's a fake truck.

Yeah that's the thing. I never owned an old ranger but it looks to me like it's part of the thing where vehicles just keep getting bigger. Like the super duties are bigger than years ago, F-150 got bigger, the ranger got bigger and now they made the Maverick which is similar in size to the old ranger if not bigger. It's like Honda. The Accord got bigger, the Civic then grew to the size of the accord or even larger, so then the end to make a new model called the Fit.

I told a super duty owner I'd tow 30,000 lbs with my maverick the day he consistently got 50 mpg. I said the main advantage of your truck, being able to tow a lot of weight, is something people almost never use it for. Whereas one of the main benefits of the maverick, it's the excellent fuel economy, is something we gain from virtually every time we drive it.

There's an inverse relationship between the size of your member and the size of your truck. The smaller your shlong, the larger your truck. I rest my case.
I'll go a step further and say there's also an inverse relationship between the size of your truck, and one's IQ. How many full sized truck owners are hauling less than we do, yet they paid 70k and are getting 15 mpg?
These are the same type of ignorant comments as questioning the Mav as a real truck. Stupidity has no boundary.

Just wanted to demonstrate that a Maverick is, in fact, a truck and can do truck things! There's a lot of naysayers out there that say otherwise. They make comments like, "That's not a man's truck!" or "It's just an Escape with a bed!" or like this one that I actually got from a Youtube comment, "lol drives like a car because it is a car! I’d be embarrassed to drive that ugly thing! It’s a car with a truck bed. Food stamp version of a truck." FYI, I just hauled twenty huge bags of mulch in this thing. Something that an F-150 or even a Ranger can accomplish that the Maverick just accomplished with no fuss.

And just last weekend, I used it to load up my brother's old entertainment set to the dump. I forgot to take a picture but trust me, it was a real b**** to load and unload and took up more than the length of the bed but it's just proving my point even more. The Maverick is a real truck no matter what the haters say, it's just minimized. I guess they're just jealous that they can't achieve over 40 mpg, can park it easily wherever they go, or have the comfort of a sedan or crossover.
I've only had one real negative comment, but I had to remind them that my out-the-door price was 29K, I'm averaging 47 MPG, and my truck is paid off. Oh and I can park very easily in normal parking spots.

I routinely tow a 3100 lb boat with our maverick.saying it's not a truck is like saying a small house in not a house 🙄

Sure, they market it as a truck but when it really comes down to how it was built and what they consider it to be, the Mav is a car with a pickup bed.

I added the ford Maverick below and as you can see compared to the 2.7t F150, the Maverick is not far off in specs!

ehhh more like an SUV with a truck bed which pretty much means its a truck... Subaru Baja. now that's a car with a pick up bed. El camino? that's a car with a pickup bed. The maverick?? not so much. A CAR WITH A BED IS A UTE. and the Maverick is not a UTE...

Toyota kind of missed the trajectory on the hydrogen attempt.
4 year old mirai’s only like 10k now used and hydrogen fill ups averaging up to 10x more than charging a model 3 at home off hours.
Toyota has been playing wait game for their 15 year investment into solid state batteries to pay off , while only adopting a Subaru to sell as their ev option for lithium bev.
Ford luckily has partnered with sk and invested in solid power and others( 🏈’s deep )to get solid state batteries closer to mass usability instead of just implant and small devices.
It’ll all come soon!
Just buy what makes you happy now.
