Why is it necessary in the Hybrids?
The fuel tanks are pressurized since the engines don't run continuously. A simple Google of the subject can explain the specifics.

When the button is pressed, the few seconds before door release does take some getting used to.

My button is located on the instument cluster where the headlight/on-off adjustments are. It has a cute little "Gas pump" icon on the button.
I’m probably coming into this conversation late . Question for you very knowledgeable Mav folks! I have 2024 Lariat Eco , I Don’t have a fuel door release button in cab at all . My door opens up manually by pressing in. So basically it does lock at all . Anybody seeing this in there truck produced Dec 2023 ?

Interesting why they put a locking gas door on the hybrid but not on the 2022 ecoboost.

The locking gas door on the hybrid has nothing to do with fuel security. During normal operation the gas tank on the hybrid is pressurized so the locking gas door on the hybrid is to cap the fill tube to maintain the pressure (especially since Ford seems to like their cap-less fuel fillers). Because the gas tank on the EB is not pressurized there is no need for the gas door to be locked from a vehicle performance perspective.

Things could be worse. Could own a Tacoma. Their fuel doors break and fall off on a regular basis. :ROFLMAO:

Thanks for letting me know where it should be. I re-checked and it is not there!
I'm not sure if this is worth pursuing with Ford.

It is if your fuel door button doesn't work! I have an Eco, so there is no door button!!
