How do you lock the fob in the truck if you have a keypad?

Tried using the keypad. Apparently that just unlocks.
Opened the door and locked the shut. It did the 2 beep and unlocked the doors. So I ended up taking the fob into the gym but it would be nice to be able to leave it

With the key inside, close the door and hold 7/8 and 9/0 at the same time. Doors will lock and lights will blink 2 times. Good to go. To unlock, put in your code and press 1/2 to unlock driverside door. Pressing 1/2 and 3/4 at the same time will unlock all doors. Hope that helps.

Just an FYI, if you try to use the inside door lock to lock your truck with the key still in it, the 2 beeps you hear is to prevent locking your keys inside with or without a keypad.

You can also press the lock button on driver's door while holding the outside door pull open,.then shut the door.

Do it all the time for outdoor adventures where the fob can get wet/lost easily. This is the purpose of the keypad. Just don't leave keys where they can be seen and found easily. A faraday bag magneted under the seat is great. This way even if they break a window to get access, they can't start the truck and drive away without finding the key and removing it from the bag. Since most cars are push button start now thieves don't think anything of someone not putting a key in their pocket after getting out.

I do it all the time when I go to the gym. I put the key fob in console and lock the doors using the 7/8 & 9/0 buttons on the keypad. Where in the truck did you leave the key fob and how were you attempting to lock doors?

I've been leaving my keys or key fob in the vehicle and using the keypad to unlock the doors on Ford vehicles since the early 90's, starting with my 1991 Thunderbird. I'm not saying that I do it all of the time but it's great in certain situations.

The police and insurance agents will even tell you that most theft is from easy opportunity. Meaning that if the key is hidden and not in plain site in the vehicle then it's very unlikely someone is going to break in and steal the vehicle. How would they know the key is in the vehicle? That's why you also always hear people say to hide your valuables in your vehicle. Most theft isn't from people smashing windows on random cars hoping to find something to steal.

Yeah we do it all the time. Great for swimming.

Calm down, that's what it's there for- for at least the last 30+ years.

If you have a Lariat (keyless), it might be a good idea to put your fob in a faraday bag before hiding it in the cab. That way it least someone who gained unauthorized access can't immediately drive off with out finding the fob. I imagine anyone looking to steal or at least break-in to a vehicle with a keypad knows there's a high probability of the keys being in one parked at a trailhead, beach, running track, boat launch etc.
