All good discussion-as I pointed out when I picked up my 2023,I got a $1000 discount=dont know how long that program ran, before being reduced to $500-I am a little more than a vet-served 28 years including 32 months in Vietnam-got disability because of Agent Orange spray--prostrate cancer-but vets, disabled or otherwise sTill not getting enough respect-VA struggles to take of them with 2d biggest budget in Govn-over $220 bil!
Thank you, Brother!
I appreciate what you have done for our Country!

No he didn't, Vets aren't owed anything.

Many Military discounts are the same way, not just FORD.

Honda's
" Offer applies to Active-Duty U.S. Military and Ready Reserve and their spouses; eligible U.S. Military Veterans within two years of their separation from active service and their spouses; eligible U.S. Military Retirees; spouses of U.S. Military Retirees and Gold Star family members. "

Toyota's
" (1) In current active duty status in the U.S. military (Navy, Army, Air Force, Marines, National Guard, Coast Guard and active Reserve) OR a U.S. military inactive reserve (i.e., Ready Reserve) that is part of the individual Ready Reserve, Selected Reserve and Inactive National Guard; OR a retiree of the U.S. military, OR a U.S. military veteran within two years of their discharge date; OR a spouse/ surviving spouse and dependents of an eligible U.S. Military personnel including Gold Star Family Members; "

See a pattern?
I'll add- surprised to see the level of entitlement from some 'Vets' in this thread.
I know!
Decease you “gave” so much!
Oh wait, you want
To ride on what Veterans have done for you! Did they or do your part? Obviously not.

What a jerk!

Thank You!

“You aren’t owed any thing”

is that because you only want your country to serve you, but you never served it?

I'm retired after 21+ years of service. I don't feel entitled to anything from auto manufacturers.
I am thankful for the program Ford offers. I just don't see it at being insulting to any group of veterans.

For all those who made the choice to serve, family members of those who serve, and those who support service I say Thank You!

I don’t think the point is whether or not disabled vets are “owed” anything. I think the point is that it sounds like Ford uses “Military Appreciation” as a marketing tool and then purposely excludes the vets most likely to deserve appreciation. If they just gave the discount quietly without the general public knowing that would be different. I don’t have skin in the game, since my husband was 3 years and done, but I can totally side with someone confused why not making it to 20 years because you were disabled wouldn’t count as well.

Honestly, my dealership knew I didn't qualify for the military discount as a disabled vet and so found a dealership one to give me in its place. It was for more than the Ford one.

Honestly, my complaint is the military discount was $500 when I served 20 years ago. At this point, it should be closer to $800.

It's $500. Is it really worth complaining about? If it means that much to you go to another dealer that will honor it. Just because you don't qualify for it from Ford doesn't mean the dealership can't give you $500 off. If the salesman refuses to discount it then find one that will. Trust me they are making way more on the sale of the truck than $500.

Who the hell is riding on anyone's coattails?
I'm a first gen American and was taught to love this country and am a vet.

Might want to use Word's grammar tool, because I'm not sure either of your posts directed at me were in English.

I’m sorry.

that was totally sarcastic!

I did 21-years in the Army, half of that over-seas, and half of that in Combat Zones.

I did NOT intend to “ride on coattails”,
and I certainly don’t need to go back to grammar school to learn how to write after my dual Masters and Doctorate.

They all do. The "we donate to vets" etc etc... it's no secret. Under Armour got exposed over a decade ago for it. The NFL & Nascar use veterans as marketing tools too. Hell, even USAA does it.

Service connection disability compensation is another topic not related to this at all. Who cares what a privately owned company does? It's $500 off a $30k truck. If you can't afford one more payment and are going to make an issue over something this stupid, your priorities are seriously out of line. We either get a discount or we don't. We enjoy them, sure, but to make a "this company doesn't appreciate veterans" rant about it when you don't get one? Stupid.

OP just wanted something to bitch about. It's hilarious seeing posts like this and knowing most these people have the nerve to take the "snowflake" stance on so many other agenda's. They even had the nerve to insult other vets that might not have "done as much" as they did.

"It's an insult". It's not. It's not at all.
The OP was a "screw FORD they owe us" post and title.
Nobody owes us :poop: . We volunteered to serve. It's thankless.

(not going off on you, or singling you out btw... the majority of my post is directed at the mindset in this thread, so I hope you don't take my comment to you personally I just wanted to clarify on a point you made)

Agreed, I volunteered when people were bitching about being drafted. Nobody owes me anything but hell yes I will ask for a discount on just about everything. It’s saved me a lot of money in some unusual places. As a veteran I don’t expect anything, advertising can be deceiving and misleading. Just like the suck don’t get your expectations too high or disappointment will follow..

This nails it.
Keep in mind when people or company’s offer these things it’s a thank you. That’s it’s. What if ford makes huge donations to charities that helps vets. Maybe the vets that actually “need” help. Let say they donate 10 million to something like that. Is that not enough?
I work with a group that helps Purple Heart recipients directly so the money can’t be wasted on admin fees. I like the group and donate heavily. Does that mean when I turn down someone or some groups to donate to vets that it’s insulting? No maybe I only have a finite amount of money to give and I put it where I best see fit.
Thanks again you vets of not for you I wouldn’t be able to live my life the way I do.

I am wondering if any Veterans of the Armed Forces who have 100 percent Service Connected Disability have been turned down for the 500.00 credit buying a new Ford.
I have 100 percent honorable service connected rating from years ago and could not qualify for the discount. One problem is that ID Me only has choices when verifying for retired but not disabled via medical. Board. However when researching further Ford only gives the discount to veterans with less than 2 years out (regardless of honorable or general) or retired or active duty. but all other vets are ineligible. Think how insulting that is for someone who gets hurt then discharged with a rating and some guy who spent 20 years sitting at a desk at some Fort or post at a desk can get the discount but the guy hurt in line of duty cannot.......
Wrote 2 Letters to Ford and they confirmed their policy did not include all veterans / disabled veterans with more than 2 years from active duty,
yet a retired military or less than 2 years from separation do qualify. Even my local Ford dealer says this is an insult and they note that most other Brands do offer a discount to all honorably discharged veterans.
Ford doesn't seem to get it. They certainly don't appreciate the sacrifice many veterans have made. They are not the USA focused company they pretend to be.
Thinking about cancelling my order. MM
I always assumed all of that stuff was basically just marketing. Doesn't mean you shouldn't get it, but I don't ever believe that a corporation is really patriotic or is concerned with people. That doesn't mean they're evil, but their main concern is making money.

As simply as I can put it, the point was, It's about all veterans being included in a military appreciation discount,-not some-all as a policy point for Ford executives who created the policy.
No they don't owe me or anyone else anything. But as a policy, they created to appreciate military and at the same time to increase sales, they created one that would seem to limit incentives to many folks in a broad category who might choose to buy or upgrade given an additional discount.
I am simply questioning the logic of a policy that Ford dealerships too have a problem with when veteran potential buyers find out they are not eligible for a discount touted in sales marketing.
The ad hominem posts on this topic have missed the point.
I get your point, but isn't the assumption going into it that they're just doing it to increase sales. They're probably hoping you'll come to the lot, see something you like and get it anyway. Plus it's good press to have it in the commercials. Most people who aren't vets aren't going to bother looking to the plan much anyway.
