You missed the point of the post.
No he didn't, Vets aren't owed anything.

Many Military discounts are the same way, not just FORD.

Honda's
" Offer applies to Active-Duty U.S. Military and Ready Reserve and their spouses; eligible U.S. Military Veterans within two years of their separation from active service and their spouses; eligible U.S. Military Retirees; spouses of U.S. Military Retirees and Gold Star family members. "

Toyota's
" (1) In current active duty status in the U.S. military (Navy, Army, Air Force, Marines, National Guard, Coast Guard and active Reserve) OR a U.S. military inactive reserve (i.e., Ready Reserve) that is part of the individual Ready Reserve, Selected Reserve and Inactive National Guard; OR a retiree of the U.S. military, OR a U.S. military veteran within two years of their discharge date; OR a spouse/ surviving spouse and dependents of an eligible U.S. Military personnel including Gold Star Family Members; "

See a pattern?
I'll add- surprised to see the level of entitlement from some 'Vets' in this thread.

As simply as I can put it, the point was, It's about all veterans being included in a military appreciation discount,-not some-all as a policy point for Ford executives who created the policy.
No they don't owe me or anyone else anything. But as a policy, they created to appreciate military and at the same time to increase sales, they created one that would seem to limit incentives to many folks in a broad category who might choose to buy or upgrade given an additional discount.
I am simply questioning the logic of a policy that Ford dealerships too have a problem with when veteran potential buyers find out they are not eligible for a discount touted in sales marketing.
The ad hominem posts on this topic have missed the point.

Ford isn't the only company that puts restrictions on military discounts. Is it fair, no but neither is life.
If you left out the "poor me" in your original post you might get less "ad hominem" posts.
Speaking of discounts Lowes nixed the 10% military discount on all appliances.

Don't see where I said poor me. Was pointing out what category of Vet I am that makes me ineligible. Thanks for the ad hominem reply though.😎

Agree you did point out which category of vet you were, the one that doesn't think much of retires since we all sit behind a desk for 20 years. Wish you all the best with your Maverick order.:)

No a vet (thank you for all of your service) but I would say that you could stop at Ford's Military Discount is an insult.

$500 off MSRP? When any Tom, Dick, or Harry can qualify for X-Plan for a Mustang Club of America digital membership? I know it is a marketing check box for Ford to mark off but nobody at Ford would notice if all veterans (or whatever status they determine) gets A-plan pricing on all vehicles except special editions.

If you were medically retired, you qualify as well. ID.Me did not recognize this for me so I had to send my DD214 to the email address below. Fortunately, I had the recent college grad (thanks GI Bill) which was $750 instead of $500 anyways.

I think you're assuming way too much. We understand the terms just fine; we just don't consider it something owed to us, so being excluded from the terms just isn't an issue.

I'm Vietnam-era Navy and got to come home in one piece, save some hearing loss from the ships guns. I also got to experience the public abuse when we were in uniform. None of that matters now. I'm glad to see current service members receiving the respect we never got.

My service provided me with many great memories and adventures that I would never have had otherwise. It set me on a path that has paid me back many times over due to the training I received and the discipline I learned. I don't need anything more.

Maybe I'd feel differently if I'd been disabled in some way as a result of service beyond just losing half of my hearing range. And maybe I'd feel that strongly about a $500 discount if I was trying to live on a disability pension. So I respect how those of you carrying service-related disabilities may feel differently. I hope you get the $500 from Ford or the dealer.
Amen bro. I am 50% disabled Vietnam vet who observed incoming rounds from a hill about 3-4 miles distant presumably from New Jersey. We were about 11 miles inland with rounds landing almost in a perfect line only two were slightly short of others. There were about 10 or 12 volleys each about same distance apart from the prior group. Fist thing that morning we were ordered to double time to that hilltop which was very unusual as we normally were in sneaking around "turkey hunt" mode. (Welcome to light infantry resupply by chopper go five months without seeing wheeled vehicle army). We had several guys from NYC in basic training who had never ridden in a private vehicle not even a cab. One said he had never been more than 4 blocks from home in his pre drafted life. Yes we were in El Paso Texas and he was terrified that Geronimo's descendant would show up and scalp him (no kidding!!!) when we spent five nights in the desert.

I am wondering if any Veterans of the Armed Forces who have 100 percent Service Connected Disability have been turned down for the 500.00 credit buying a new Ford.
I have 100 percent honorable service connected rating from years ago and could not qualify for the discount. One problem is that ID Me only has choices when verifying for retired but not disabled via medical. Board. However when researching further Ford only gives the discount to veterans with less than 2 years out (regardless of honorable or general) or retired or active duty. but all other vets are ineligible. Think how insulting that is for someone who gets hurt then discharged with a rating and some guy who spent 20 years sitting at a desk at some Fort or post at a desk can get the discount but the guy hurt in line of duty cannot.......
Wrote 2 Letters to Ford and they confirmed their policy did not include all veterans / disabled veterans with more than 2 years from active duty,
yet a retired military or less than 2 years from separation do qualify. Even my local Ford dealer says this is an insult and they note that most other Brands do offer a discount to all honorably discharged veterans.
Ford doesn't seem to get it. They certainly don't appreciate the sacrifice many veterans have made. They are not the USA focused company they pretend to be.
Thinking about cancelling my order. MM
I was able to get the discount.

Thank you for your service but not everyone who retired sat behind a desk for 20 years.
Hopefully you still thank the VA every month.
This. And even those who did were eligible for combat at a moment's notice. I get OP's point, but I think it could have been made differently.

Thank you for your service.
Ford doesn’t owe us anything. I appreciate the discounts we get in perpetuity from Lowe’s and others, but I can’t be angry about the programs for which I do not qualify. If I can’t buy it without their $500, I can’t afford it.
Did you get any discounts, and why would you act like you know what someone can afford when their entitled discounts are not hinored?

All good discussion-as I pointed out when I picked up my 2023,I got a $1000 discount=dont know how long that program ran, before being reduced to $500-I am a little more than a vet-served 28 years including 32 months in Vietnam-got disability because of Agent Orange spray--prostrate cancer-but vets, disabled or otherwise sTill not getting enough respect-VA struggles to take of them with 2d biggest budget in Govn-over $220 bil!
