My 2022 Hybrid with about 10,000 miles on it died outside of Baker Calif on the way to Vegas
(I was headed home, I live in Vegas)
I got several error messages on the dash board, and on my phone via the Ford app
"Service engine Soon"
"Collision assist unavailable"
I pulled over and the car would restart, but only with very low engine power
Unfortunately I was in an area with no cell data service, but I did have voice and text service
I called Ford Roadside assistance, and the automated response wanted me to go online
The automated voice repeatedly tried to get me to put in an online request
Eventually I was able to talk to a human
They wanted to tow the car to the nearest dealer, which was in vegas
They said the warranty only covered 15 miles of towing, and I had to pay $300
I complained about the charge to no avail.
And I had to pay this amount online, which I could not do without internet service
Eventually they transferred me to the payment department, I complained about the charge
and now they politely apologized for the error, and I would not have to pay anything.
A tow truck was dispatched, from Vegas he was able to drive the car and get it in position for towing.
Eventually we got to vegas, and as it was a Sunday , it was dropped in the after hours service drop point
We then took an Uber home. All tolled about 4 hours

The problem seems to be related to recall notice 23S27, NTSA 23V380

Its at at the dealer now

Hate to hear that, hope all goes well for you and hope they give you a loaner. If it’s really that fire/crankshaft issue curious how ford will handle it, rebuild the engine or just replace it

It really sucks to have your vehicle die, especially like yours did way out in the middle of nowhere, but if I am reading the situation correctly, there might be a plus side as it seems like the reprogram the knock sensor might have saved you the total loss of your truck. Please keep us updated.

That totally sucks. 4 hours and a tow needed.
Hope they figure out the problem and get you back into the awesome truck again.

Engine failure near a small town with poor to no cell service on a Sunday and Ford was able to retrieve the Maverick and drop it at a dealer within 4 hours. Pretty impressive! I have waited over 1.5 hours for a flat tire repair in a major city!

Did you have a connecting rod blow a hole in your engine block?

Honestly that was my thought. 4 hours from dead Mav to door step from the Uber? I would have stopped at a bar first but that sounds about best case scenario for a vehicle stranding you without reliable cell.

Yikes! Is that real possibility?
I didn't open the hood at all so I don't know
But I was traveling at 75MPH on a slight uphill grade.

I think that you would know if a connecting rod went through the block, without having to open the hood. :)

Had the same problem, my truck has been at the dealership since February 14th. They don't know how to fix it. Ford engineering is also involved.
