I went through a car wash the other day and put the truck in neutral and realise that the AC will not continue to work in neutral. Is there a way to activate the engine while in neutral so that the ACwill still run?

Yes to the edit statement. This HV protection will be why the "Temporary Neutral Mode" is limited to 30 minutes. AC possibly may continue if HVB is over 40%. ?just guessing)When the HV battery runs low it will stop the AC compressor. This is done to keep the HV battery from going below its normal operating voltage floor. You cannot override this protection (to my knowledge.) This feature has been present in every electric AC compressor Hybrid I've owned.
Although, it is hard to tell when it's going to happen in the Maverick because Ford removed HV battery gauges. Earlier Ford hybrids all had a battery gauge of some sort.
Edit- Because of the transmission design, charging can only occur in P, D and to a lesser extend R. It cannot charge the HV battery in neutral.
I do wonder if it is a SoC% or a voltage threshold.Yes to the edit statement. This HV protection will be why the "Temporary Neutral Mode" is limited to 30 minutes. AC possibly may continue if HVB is over 40%. ?just guessing)
The last thing you want to do is roll down the windowI went through a car wash the other day and put the truck in neutral and realise that the AC will not continue to work in neutral. Is there a way to activate the engine while in neutral so that the ACwill still run?
When in P I know for a fact that pushing the go pedal quite a bit will start the ice before the HVB drops to it's normal starting point for ice to be started. I will do it occasionally when I want to be sure HVB has at least the 40%(?) cutoff of ice! Will have to try neutral. Do not know if you would even want AC on particularly if fresh air intake is open?I went through a car wash the other day and put the truck in neutral and realise that the AC will not continue to work in neutral. That’s just weird, but there is a battery gauge that you can set on your dash console. I don’t this the AC will ever work in neutral. I forget what the console states when in neutral. I think the system naturally shuts down in neutral. In these current temperatures in Texas, the Maverick will heat up quickly going through the car wash. When the HV battery runs low it will stop the AC compressor. Just used the neutralWhen in P I know for a fact that pushing the go pedal quite a bit will start the ice before the HVB drops to it's normal starting point for ice to be started. Since you were apparently still in truck did you just put it in N or did you activate the UP TO 30 minutes Temporary Neutral ?
Might need to drive for a few minutes with heavy amount of Regen to add as much as possible to HVB to add a few more minutes AC will run in N.Just used the neutral
You can also use the Tow/Haul or Sport drive modes for a few miles coming up to a car wash to keep the ICE running more and charging the HV battery as much as possible.Might need to drive for a few minutes with heavy amount of Regen to add as much as possible to HVB to add a few more minutes AC will run in N.
YES! On way to car wash combine trip with my monthly drive in all modes then again in all modes with the L button pushed while testing the brakes also! You can also use the Tow/Haul or Sport drive modes for a few miles coming up to a car wash to keep the ICE running more and charging the HV battery as much as possible.
