Condolences from another San Diegan. While I have no tips or clue as to the failure, I urge you to report these incidents to NHTSA.gov.

Edit: I recall reading something on this forum a couple of weeks ago that had a video attached related to a bad battery cable where it clamps to the battery post. Sorry I can't be more specific.

Question - did you or possibly a previous owner do any modifications even as simple as changing to LED light bulbs, sound system amplifier, other than appearance mods?
Just a sound system from one of the highest reputable installers in the area. Would imagine they would blame that immediately at ford

I once had a 12V battery develop an internal open connection between cells. Since the battery is pretty much essential to smooth out switching spikes & alternator ripple, it's possible that the vehicle shut down to protect the electronics from such a thing. It may not have had time to store a code under such conditions. Horrible problem; best of luck...
Possibly. This is the 2nd battery. The one the oem from the purchase failed a month or so after i bought the truck

What about codes? All this software crap and should show codes . Why isn't it showing codes ? Is computer module shot ? Ford should have answers . maybe they can come out with a new model instead of getting these current models right .
Dealer called me said electrical tested fune but the codes are showing transmission stuff and the truck thinks it's in gear so they can't even start the truck yet. None of which can explain why it hard died while driving.

Have your battery fully charged, then load tested properly. A fully charged battery can show close to 13 volts, but you need to know what it reads under a load and how fast the voltage drops while under load. Closely check all connections at the battery and the chassis ground. If it's your original battery, it's now close to 4 years old, maybe time for a new one.

Did you change out the battery with the AGM one like others did on here? Perhaps the battery is weak. I don’t buy its lights being left on causing the total shut down if the system. If you drive the truck it should charge up the battery. Time to file the lemon report.

Short version is, my 2022 Maverick has died twice while actively driving. below are links to two videos. one showing the inside dash cluster while failing to crank, and the 2nd the random knocking noise the engine makes after.

While driving the vehicle completely shuts off. all the electrical turns off, can't lock or unlock the doors, roll down the windows etc... can't restart the truck after. Shifter shows it in park. and with the 12v required to change the shifter, i'm left stranded where ever this happened to be. both times in the middle of traffic. honestly luck both times I wasn't in an accident following it turning off. Each time i'm left having to have it towed to the dealership.

The first time, happened a few weeks ago. gave them the full description of what happened. They got back to me 2 days later saying I must have left the lights on and the battery was dead. Not really sure how they glossed over my entire 'customer states' but all they put on the ticket was 'customer states truck wont crank'.

And then Tuesday this week it happened again. 20 minutes into my drive. Dealership so far has no real idea of what to even fix. Update i got today was the electrical tested fine and its being passed over to the transmission techs.

Has anyone seen this before? links below are from the inside the truck, and what the engine was doing afterwards.

I had this happen in a fox body mustang a few times. It was just like someone turned off the ignition, pulled the key out, got out of the car, shut the door and locked it. At that point, EVERYTHING is turned off. Except this happened at 65 mph. First time I thought it was a fluke. A month later, it happened again, then a week later, then daily. What was going on is the main computer for the engine was going bad and it was getting worse over time. So I found a same model and year mustang in a junk yard, got the computer for $100, slapped it into my car and drove it for another 50k miles without a problem.

I know someone that has a Bronco Sport with the Ecoboost 2.0 that had similar symptoms. It turned out to be the battery. It was covered under warranty.
