Can't wait to see the refresh. I'm happy they are going with a bigger wider screen and not a tall screen like the Ranger. Now the Escape, Bronco Sport and Maverick will have the same screen. Fingers crossed for AWD hybrid!

Hopefully they will address the real problem which to me is all the noises the dash makes. For the first thousand miles the dash in my 24 Mav was solid, then sounds crept in, the dash on the passenger side, the screen vibration noise. I drive over well paved roads. The screen size is fine, just fix the noise in the dash, FoMoCo. My 21 year old PT Cruiser also built in Hermosillo MX has no noises in the dash. It can be done.

Totally agree. The screen they have is fine but we all knew they would expand it at some point to get people to buy the latest thing. People need to be more concerned about keeping their eyes on the road when operating a vehicle.

I agree, I only wish it was big enough to hold a burger - my old Toyota Echo had a perfect horizontal cubby for burger storage.

This is not Sync 4. This is the new Ford Digital Experience. Ford announced they are ditching Sync and moving to Android Automotive. Android Automotive is a new operating system that supports CarPlay, Android Auto, and lots of apps you can download.

If the touchscreen is so inconvenient for you, just use the voice command we provided you! ...And this, boys and girls, is why I dislike the move away from physical buttons. But let me explain where I'm coming from.

I actually enjoy driving, especially when doing long trips (put over 90k miles on my 4G Escape in 3 years). When I'm driving, I'm doing one of the following: listening to music, listening to long format content, talking with family/friends, or just enjoying the silence. After giving voice commands in my Escape, I don't like it. I hate stopping whatever I'm listening or pause a conversation to make a voice command (I even have voice guided GPS disabled). Most of my HVAC inputs are small occasional tweaks. I usually preplan my routes in Google Maps and check VA511 for traffic before I even connect to my car. My playlists are usually queued up before I drive. The most touching I do to my current 8" screen to wipe the lint off because I never really use it. Outside of GPS, the screen is usually set to the clock mode or dark mode. I'm a set it, forget it, and enjoy the drive kind of person.

With all of that said, I understand that I'm the minority. Most new car buyers are people who use their infotainment more than I do. For those people, yes, voice command is "safer" than having them turning knobs and pressing buttons while driving 15+ over the speed limit. I also get that having a couple screens is more cost effective to the manufacturer than having various knobs and buttons that need chips to connect to in order to function.

Yet, wouldn't a fine compromise be to have the touch screen with 2 universal knobs that you could program to what you want? Those knobs can be for whatever you want: volume, AC temp, AC speed, seat temp, seat intensity, GPS volume, screen brightness, etc. I'm just spit balling here. There has to be some sort of compromise between button-and-knob 60s Star Trek and endless touchscreens 90s Star Trek when it comes to our infotainment systems.

Will this stop the 1.5G Maverick from gaining sales? No. Will this stop some people from pursuing a Maverick? Possibly. Do the physical control crowd have valid complaints? Yeah. Will this stop Ford from pushing touchscreens with voice commands? Not unless the NHTSA restricts it. Is it that serious of a topic? That's a matter of debate. Did I type too much? Probably. lol

I'm done rambling. Let's just hope Ford keeps the 8" as an option in the refresh Maverick so everyone can be somewhat satisfied. ...and please let there be an AWD hybrid announcement.

First thing I noticed (aside from. That beautiful screen ) was the S and Mode buttons on the steering wheel, so it definitely looks like we're getting an ST or at least some sort of Street Version. (Hard to see in this Pic, it was clearer on the website)

Second thing was the God-awful instrument cluster that they already have in the 24 Escapes

Agreed, I don't mind a nice size screen for my Android auto, you know using Google maps and maybe Apple or Amazon music amongst other features. But I still like having physical buttons for things like HVAC and I don't need to screen to be giant and I don't like it when it is an integrated into the dash

They've caught all sorts of hell from Bronco owners about the useless tachometer and yet they're doubling down here...

Yep, the main thing that keeps me from definitely wanting to hybrid is the fact that it doesn't have AWD or the independent rear suspension. A little bit more power when it hurt either
