Seems pointless to me. Are you running a delivery service or something? Maybe have a daily commute with tools? I really don't get the electric car fad, at least as a new car. 25-30k doesn't seem good to me. Use to see used Nissan Leafs sell for 5k all day long.

Bring your price down about 5 fold and then we're talking. We don't value electric vehicles like you people do.

I'm not a fan of full EVs for a variety of reasons (long charge times, low range, not practical on road trips, too 'dirty' to manufacture, electricity grids not sustainable, too reliant on other countries, etc.)

And I don't think its possible for them to create a full EV Mav with a decent range for under 30k.

But... if they somehow did, I probably would book one on the first day.

Most of those things aren't real. If you're traveling long road trips every day, a quality EV will take 20 minutes to charge over 5 minutes forgas, but the vast majority of people don't do that every day. They would charge it at home. I don't know what you mean by relying on other countries. A lot of them now have range over 300 mi. As for the electrical grid, I don't have any power outages at my house. Maybe one over the last 5 years. And lasted less than 2 hours. Also this is America. We should have a can do attitude. If the grid needs to be upgraded then let's do it..

No, it’s not for me. The infrastructure is not reliable yet. The truck would be useful for running errands around town and in my opinion that’s it.
I have a friend who has a lightening and loves it, it’s just not for me. I will stick with my hybrid.

No I don't think many will for several reasons. One the incentive is up to, and it is a tax deduction. It also has limitations on which vehicles qualify. Something to think about most retirees pay little to no federal income tax. So they are ineligible for a tax deduction because they have to pay tax to be able to have a deduction.

Two many who have owned them or even driven them complain that the infrastructure is not available. Also if it was there the length of time waiting to be able to charge it. Then add additional time for charging.

Three if you tow it's really going to reduce what charge you have.

Four if you live in a cold climate it doesn't want to charge or hold a charge. Cold also reduces a battery's lifespan.

Five if your planning on keeping a car you better figure on the cost replacing the battery down the road.

Six if your selling used resale usually takes a heavy hit because the used car buyer realized the cost of replacing the battery.

Seven majority of individuals don't want to risk their homes or their loved ones with batteries catching on fire.

Eight better also figure on a few thousand more just for the hook up to charge the vehicle at your home.

Nine better plan on replacing tires more often and the money needed to do so.

Ten it's a costly venture, with added nuisance, added time and added risk. It might be why they are not selling well yet, even with the incentive.

Ford needs to figure out how to stop bleeding billions on their EV side of the business, but management does not seem to care as the ICE side is doing gangbusters with the profit margin and carrying the water for the rest of the business.

However, the shareholders very well may not continue to be as enthusiastic as management. All the ideology aside, it always and always eventually comes down to the color of the ink.

That's the plan . Makes perfect sense. You plan and fund the development for the future with the current profits.

Neither do electric motors. I don't know but was told a AWD or 4x4 would need a electric motor at each wheel. If that is correct it can be very costly, as well as insurance premiums.

Electric motors have very few moving parts. Batteries are more of a legitimate concern

Tell that crap to someone else. I know they are different but basically similar with copper coils. I can't tell you how many drills, fans etc I have burned the motors out over the years.

I’ll just say first I owned a large amount of rivian stock. I think it’s the best ev out.
With that nope never buy an ev seems dumb except for very certain cases. Hybrid not for me but at least makes sense. Ev is stuck once it’s out of juice. And electricity has already jumped a lot. I live in rural nowhere and already just started paying peak rates. What about when all these e cars come on board. Electric use is gonna skyrocket as they shut down power plants for green energy. Sure maybe Texas or New Mexico but I’m in Michigan. We have snow 4 months out of the year. How that gonna work.
Nope hard pass on a ev maverick.

I've rebuilt gas engines AND I'm trained on and have worked on electric motors for 25 years. How many circular saws powered by gas have you seen?

Your logic is a joke. I’m old enough to remember when the big 3 thought they knew better than Joe six pack what Joe wanted. Then they needed bailouts to not fold up. So maybe they don’t know much of anything. Maybe listen to Joe six pack of what he wants or needs. You know maybe give consumers what they want?

That maybe but it's a world away. You need to address what they pay for fuel vs what they pay for electricity and do they have the infrastructure? Do they have incentives or had legislators made it mandatory so they don't have a choice?

Yes all vehicle sales increased in 2023 including EVs. If it was all doom and gloom like a lot of posts in this thread would lead me to believe shouldn't that be the opposite? Shouldn't EV sales be falling instead of increasing every year?

It's not just in the USA either. On a global scale EVs are gaining popularity and growing rapidly. In Germany last year, EV sales were up 38% year over year and now have an 18% market share and in China an estimated 1.6 million EVs were sold. EVs even outsold diesel vehicles in Europe last year too which is historically the largest market for diesel vehicles.

Plus China is the worlds largest car market now. Some of these guys want to consign the big three to only making gasoline trucks in the United States and that's it.
