Maverick 2022 Steering Wheel got crazy

My wife's 2012 Focus had a similar issue with the electric steering. It forced you to make many direction corrections while driving straight down the road. There was a recall and hers got the steering components replaced.

Sounds like an insufficient explanation for an intermittent and dangerous problem. Were they able to *consistently* reproduce the problem before the reprogram? If not, how do they know it’s actually solved just because it didn’t happen during one test drive?
What was wrong with the program, are other customers at risk of the same problem with the program? Programs don’t just change… they even have checksums on their code so even if something did change on its own due to a failure of the storage media(bitrot), the checksums would not match and not allow the faulty code to run.

They should provide a sufficient root cause to such a dangerous issue.

Last time I saw that, it was a bad rack and electric assist motor for the steering system, but that was on a 2012 Focus.

Sounds like an insufficient explanation for an intermittent and dangerous problem. Were they able to *consistently* reproduce the problem before the reprogram? If not, how do they know it’s actually solved just because it didn’t happen during one test drive?
What was wrong with the program, are other customers at risk of the same problem with the program? Programs don’t just change… they even have checksums on their code so even if something did change on its own due to a failure of the storage media(bitrot), the checksums would not match and not allow the faulty code to run.

They should provide a sufficient root cause to such a dangerous issue.

he does not rotate it 360. it appears to bounce back hard when he hits the end of the steering travel in either direction.

there have been some trucks with issues with the electric power steering. I am not sure of the systems, what is involved in repair, etc. I just know I've read of a similar issue before.

Not sure home much torque is on that wheel jerking back but If you were a woman with narrow wrists that would be an injury right there blamed on Ford and Mav production would halt lol.

NOT ANOTHER POTENTIAL RECALL TO DELAY MY DELIVERY!

This looks pretty bad, I've seen similar/worse things, and usually it comes down to the steering wheel control module. Be safe out there, glad they are offering tow and loaner

Maybe the the PSCM reprogramming solved it. At least there were able to find codes to have some history/data behind it.

So it Happened again in less than a month this time it happened on the road the steering wheel stuck after drove out of the driveway, car at the dealership for 3 days with no answer
