This no free loaner thing is mind blowing to me with Ford (and Hyundai). I've only owned two new cars, but my folks and most friends have owned new cars across all brands (ironically, except Ford), and have gotten loaners or free rentals from all of them.

I experienced it with my Hyundai that was in the shop for >2 months. Thankfully, Hyundai USA paid for a rental car for the duration - but they didn't tell me that was an option up front. My service advisor (who NEVER called me back when I left messages...) at the dealer didn't even know Hyundai USA would pay for a rental, but *another* service advisor who I talked to due to my assigned one being on vacation told me to contact Hyundai USA to see if they'd comp a rental... Great training at the dealer.
FINALLY!!! Someone who understands my frustration with this whole situation, everyone’s go too phrase is “Other brands have issues” but with the previous cars I’ve own from Jeep, BMW and Tesla (pictured below) all had minor issues, but when I brought them to the dealership I got a loaner SAME DAY of me dropping off my car. I thought ford being a huge company would have the same service while owning a new vehicle from them, but this maverick has been the most inconvenient new vehicle to own by far. Also my truck is still in the shop :)

Loaner cars have a high cost these days due to the cost of used vehicles, and especially repairing or replacing used vehicles if one of the loaners gets into an accident. Dealerships with active service departments typically cannot offer a loaner to every customer and some have limits on how long it can be borrowed, which is driven by their insurance.

You unfortunately can't expect a loaner. Even if you have rental coverage on your own insurance, read the terms & conditions carefully. Many of them have day or financial limits.

I will say all brands and vehicles have issues, but how the brand handles the customer experience matters a lot.

My dealers finance guy told me I'd not get a loaner for anything without buying their extremely expensive extended warranty (memory is fuzzy as it was 18mo ago, but it was something like $8-10K?!), so I knew what I was getting into. But I don't like it.

I've yet to take my Mav in for any recalls because of the lack of a loaner... Lining up a ride home and a spare car for a few days is a PITA, and honestly, I'm not that excited about the dealer scratching up my interior either...

The Hyundai experience was pretty bad honestly - it was in winter 2021-22, so like colinl implied, height of used car ... value crunch? The dealer returned a still-broken car to me twice - they didn't even verify their "fix" did anything (it was a DCFC issue, and they didn't have a DCFC on site, and didn't send a tech to an Electrify America / EVgo charger to test...brilliant...). This contrasts massively to my friends experience with Hyundai in 2018-19 also, which is damn annoying.

I had this problem on another car after having the head unit replaced, and it turned out they never bothered to plug the GPS antenna wire back into the new one.

May be a loose/disconnected wire. Might have downstream consequences for a vehicle with such integrated electronics.

The double-honk is likely fob related, and the infotainment getting stuck has happened to I think every Maverick owner.

The other stuff sounds glitchy and I would definitely get it back to Ford to look at.

Best of luck, and keep us other Tremor owners in the loop!
Yep.

time to trade it in for something else.
the real problem is that Ford will not allow you any contact with their experts and the dealers are not adequately prepared/trained to deal with all this software BS and punt a lot leaving you in the lurch because they don't know what to do. The translations from you to the dealer's service advisor to the mechanic are always F'd up and they make if difficult to speak with them.

Hi Cal,
The reason for the double honk is when you open the door and forget to push the ingition button before leaving. Since the Lariat has no key to insert, it is a reminder to shut off the Mav. I have tutorial videos on my channel that can help.

It would happen AS soon as I open my door when my truck is OFF and parked. That’s what was weird about it.

As if other brands don't have the same issues.
They really don't. The deep sleep issue has been plaguing numerous FORD vehicles for far too long. FORD has no interest in actually solving the issue.

Context is key. I responded to a post saying it's time to buy something that's not a Ford.

Do I really need to post a long list of issues the other manufacturers are having?

No. They are not having THIS issue. That is the context as seen many many times on this forum and many other FORD forums. Personally, I have no brand loyalty. But the deep sleep is a plague amongst FORD's currently. Not other manufactures. That's the point of their post.

And I’ll would like to add context to that comment, I was talking more about fords customer service, and how they handled this situation with my vehicle, not the issues themselves, I owned vehicles from a wide variety of brands and trust me they all have their quirks, but my Ford maverick was the most inconvenient vehicle to own… hints the comment

Really sounds like a bad dealer( independently owned) you should look up an alternate dealer for warranty work ( don’t have to be loyal to the one you bought it from )and call in ahead of time and see if you can get a loaner rental because of your drive .
All dealers are cracking down on perks regardless of brand .All about the money.
Tesla with online no dealer strategy is going to drive the other manufacturers to adopt and you will only have a couple manufacturer service centers per state ,and no right to repair ,for parts availability to independent shops and subscription diagnostics for these foo foo ,modules of luxury everybody wants in their vehicles . GO TECH!
probably not in the next 10 or 15 years though.
Just find a new dealer.

The next dealer that has loaners and probably better customer service is 2 and a half hours out, but i won’t have to worry about that anytime soon, because I'm selling my maverick
