Undecided but kind of regret it at this point. MPGs are just not there unless you exclusively drive at super low speeds in a lot of stop n go traffic. People's solutions to improve MPGs unironically include not using the heat/ac. I have a 20 year old truck that gets 25 mpgs without any regard for driving conditions, use all the heat I want, go 90 on the interstate. Getting 33 mpg in the hybrid while trying butter it aside from not using heat/ac. May look into selling it but I have no idea how or if you can sell a financed vehicle.or what it entails.
So my typical drive is 9 miles to and from work five days a week. I am driving 35-60 MPH on those drives. No stop and go. I am averaging 43 mpg in my first 2500 miles.
Granted I don’t use the heater much as I park in the garage so the Mav isn’t very cold when I start out my drive and it’s always warm when I go home. I do use the AC in the summer for sure. I’m in AZ.

I think maybe I’m just in the sweet spot for the hybrid Mav. For my situation it’s perfect

So I'm torn now. I absolutely love how smooth the hybrid system is and the MPG. I've been plagued with the deep sleep mode and a few days ago it finally left me stranded when the car was completely dead. Looking online about how many folks are also having this issue that Ford can't seem to figure out makes me very hesitant about recommending hybrid to anyone as this is looking to be an issue that has no fix (like the DCT trans in the focus).

So my answer is NO.
The deep sleep thing is so perplexing. It seems there is no rhyme or reason to it. Some have no issue with it at all and others are plagued by it.

I was just wondering with all the negative threads about a Maverick hybrids That if you have one or own one would you buy a hybrid again yes or no ?
Maybe…but not a Maverick, don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the 6 months and 3000 miles I drove it – my first hybrid. Loved the smooth integration of electric and ICE, liked being able to push the ‘Ready’ button and glide away silently, when I switch to a ‘regular’ car I notice the racket of the ICE when I start on a quiet morning.

I’d like to try a ‘series’ hybrid, maybe the Mazda CX-30 r-EV if it ever comes here.

Ford’s ‘mild’ hybrid system used on European cars and vans is interesting.

Simpler system: Air cooled ‘safe’ 48 volt battery pack (no need for all the orange wiring and high voltage connectors). MGU is driven and drives via a toothed belt from the front damper, provides regen braking and acceleration boost. Engine can use a bigger turbocharger as the electric boost will compensate for the turbo ‘lag’. Available with both manual and auto transmission (most cars in the UK and Europe are still manual).

NO I have had the opportunity to own both. 22 hybrid and currently 23awd FX4. I would average about 31mpg with my hybrid and I am getting 25mpg with the 23awd. For all the extra benefits you receive with the awd system, the difference in mpg is negligible. I know some are going to claim higher mpg but it depends on location. Up in the northern states hybrids are not as efficient as they can be in warmer, flatter areas. I currently have an order in for a 24 hybrid, rollover order. It will be an instant flip.

I have a 2022 XL Hybrid. Yes, I would absolutely purchase again. I don't drive a lot and a back of the napkin estimate says my driving is probably 85% city 15% highway. After 6600 miles I'm averaging 40.2 mpg. That's a lot better than the 13.5 my 1998 F-150 got. And there is so much more space in my garage.

The deep sleep problem I have NOT had - thank the Lord . The grabby brakes at low speed is very rare. On the forums here problems can look deceptively common. Owners with problems look for forums to discuss those problems. Hoping for a solution. Looking to warn others. But there are over 100,000 Maverick owners just driving their vehicles daily that don't even know this forum exists. No interest in joining to say "all is fine". Just reading here gives a distorted picture of problems. Consumer reports says the reliability of the hybrid Maverick is better than average.

I certainly sympathize with owners that have the deep sleep issues. And have offered this advice several times on this forum. If you are the original owner and It's under warranty - and Ford cannot fix it or has take excessively long to fix - make Ford take it back.. Try your luck with a different one. The Federal Magnus-Moss Warrant Act is your friend. There are lawyers that ALL THEY DO is represent automobile owners that have purchased automobiles that manufactures have been unable to repair or repair timely. Consult a lawyer - but generally speaking if your under warranty car has sat for more than 30 days waiting for a repair OR if there have been four attempts at fixing the same problem the law is on your side.

If you purchases used and have these problems and it's under warranty still get a lawyer. You can still get a cash settlement. Some state laws fully cover used cars. This will take time - expect several months minimum. Six months common But the lawyers doing this know the lawyers Ford hires. They know the federal lemon law and any state lemon laws in your state. They will work it out. Just Google to find an attorney.

What would get me to part with my 2022 XL Hybrid? AWD and/or a plug in hybrid would be awesome. Especially a plug in hybrid. I' would buy almost no gas with a 40-50 mile all electric range and a battery for that range would easily charge overnight on a standard 110 volt outlet in my garage.

I have bought a Ford hybrid again, and again, and again, and again. So, yes, I would do it and have done it. No issues with any of them, including the older 2.0l hybrids. Ford makes a great hybrid.

Yes, this is my second Ford Hybrid . The first has been the most reliable vehicle I've owned, it also had a lot of negativity against it.
Isn't it rather early to call them reliable? It hasn't been around all that long.

The only thing better would be a plug-in hybrid with AWD, like the Toyota RAV4 Prime (a PHEV). At 8,000 miles on it I am getting more than 100 mpg. This car gets about 48 miles per charge.

I can’t wait for the Maverick plug-in version to come out

Yes.
Canadian 9000km (5600 miles) Zero issues. Fuel economy 5.0 litres per 100 km (47 miles per US gallon) or if I want to brag 56 miles per imperial gallon. A few in my age group remember how we used to measure it up in the north.

Ken
I remember. I am 74 from Oro, but live in Texas full time since 2020.

The first Ford Hybrid I was referring to was a Ford Cmax, I guess in 8 years I’ll know how it compares.

BTW Only change I would ask for is a hybrid AWD system. Put another motor on the rear and maybe another battery? (Twice the recharge on braking, twice the push to get going and would help traction a lot).
agree, especially for those folks in colder climates that have to contend with snow and ice in the winter. but, wouldnt 4x4 drive and a extra electric motor require a larger more powerful hybrid battery?
