Same. Hindsight is 20/20: I should have ordered and gone back to hibernate; then check back in 1yr if my dealer hadn't called yet (in October 2022)I'm too old school to jump into this frenzy. I've never ordered a vehicle in my life, always buying what was on the lot.
The cliche used to be the car salesmen, not the customers asking, "now what's it gonna take to get you/me driving out in this vehicle today?"I'm too old school to jump into this frenzy. I've never ordered a vehicle in my life, always buying what was on the lot. For that matter, despite having driven for over 50 years I've only owned 9 vehicles and only 3 of those were purchased new. It would seem Ford and many other automakers are moving more toward this order model of selling cars. Me, I want to see and drive a vehicle before I buy it.
Now add this craziness to all that and I think I'm just gonna hibernate for the winter and revisit my options in the spring. Who knows... There might be some slightly used Mavericks, repos, order cancelled, or other trucks on dealer lots. I'm not so anxious as to want to ride this crazy train right now.
Wow, I've owned more vehicles in the last five years than you in the last 50. One of my car-nut friends currently owns about 30 vehicles. For that matter, despite having driven for over 50 years I've only owned 9 vehicles and only 3 of those were purchased new.
Same. Fortunately, I am in a position that, unless a tree falls on my Nissan Frontier tonight, I won't need to be looking for a vehicle for 2-3 years. Hopefully by then, I'll be able to decide between a Maverick hybrid AWD or a Ranger PowerBoost or Ranger PHEV.I'm not so anxious as to want to ride this crazy train right now.
The good news is that Long Beach and Los Angeles are moving to a 24x7 operation. The bad news is, that's only part of the equation. The cans will get off the ships and onto the docks, but now they'll just be sitting there waiting for trucks or trains to take 'em away.Parts stuck in the Port of Los Angeles?
DangI've had to place 2 orders. The first one, i placed on 08/21/21 and was never put in and I never received the confirmatory email. When I contacted my local dealer, they asked me to send them all my information again. I went to another dealer to confirm my order, and it was never placed by the first dealer, so I lost a whole month. 2nd order was placed on 09/25/21. I probably won't see my truck till 2030.![]()
Maybe not! They keep shutting down the factory.W.T.F.![]()
LoL yeah, more like NOT made in Mexico. Or anywhere else. Or just Not Made.Man be not! They keep shutting down the factory.![]()
Nah, they just work a bit faster, skip tightening every other screw. You would think that the build dates would be pushed forward if they were shut down. Mine was right on schedule.
I keep a vehicle for as long as I can, almost always paying it off long before I sell it. Considering my age and how long I generally keep a vehicle the Maverick could be the last vehicle I own!Wow, I've owned more vehicles in the last five years than you in the last 50. One of my car-nut friends currently owns about 30 vehicles.
By the way, I'm not claiming that all 30 vehicles run, drive, and have current registration and insurance. Imagine 3 vehicles ready-to-go and about 27 vehicles in various stages of repair or salvage.
Out of all the cars I've owned, only two were brand new. One was literally driven out of the showroom with 9 miles on it. So I guess I can check that off the list.
I still haven't ordered a vehicle; always been compromising with whatever was available and close enough to what I was looking for. Maybe the Maverick will be the first after the initial rounds of deliveries are completed in ten years (sarcasm).
