My intelligent access on the driver side on my lariat hasn’t worked in months so I’ve had to use the keypad. It works fine on the passenger side.

Has this happened to any other lariat owners?

Yes, you can reset it in the dash settings.

My keypad failed today. I tried to use it because my pup was pulling and the other hand was full. Tried 3 times.
I did have the key in my pocket so not a big deal.
A 2023 XLT with only 570 miles.
Back working again now that it's sitting in the garage.

If you punch in the incorrect code can you instantly re punch in the correct code and it works?
1235 oops 1234 like that quick.

I know on my deadbolt keypad on my house I can't. I have to wait. Then I just go to my garage keypad and go in that way.

RE: those saying just use FordPass: FordPass uses AT&T to talk to the truck. Your phone needs some sort of internet connection, and the truck needs to be reachable by AT&T cell network. I know that where I hunt, often times there is zero cell service.
how does that work if they deleted the wi-fi chips from our trucks? is this a different chip just for the Ford Pass?

My keypad failed and locked up from too many tries. Then I realized code was my dads birthday and not mine, dumass! Waited about 15 minutes and it worked perfect. Can’t fix stupid!

That was the WIFI hot spot that was removed from MY23+. That is not the same as the LTE modem Ford uses to talk to the truck, and is used for Fordpass. No way they are giving that up all that user data they can gather and sell.

The keypad is one of the main reasons I even have a ford. Use mine 3-5 times a week when running on the trail. Dont like to carry anything on me. Yes, someone could smash and steal the truck. Yes it could randomly die and i have to find help. But 6 years and 2 fords and so far no issues.

That all said Maverick will be my last Ford. So I'll eventually have to figure something else out. No way I'll ever support this hot mess of a company again.

Yep I would assume the Wi-Fi radio and cell radio are separate in the truck.

You are diving a virtual computer. Be careful out there.
It's not a virtual computer. :ROFLMAO: There are a bunch of real computers working together with a master monitoring system to make modern vehicles run the way they do. It's the infotainment system that interacts and distributes your personal information to the manufacture. To avoid that as much as possible, don't use Bluetooth with your phone, since that is how they download all the phone numbers and other information from your phone. Only use Apple Carplay and Android auto, the latter of which is spyware too, to reduce what the manufacture can sell to the data mining partners they deal with.

Bluetooth is only for close range communication, I don't know if Fordpass uses it at all for vehicle controls. Maybe it does? As far as I know Fordpass and the vehicle require an internet connection for the app to function. Don't know, I stopped using it within weeks of getting the truck, it's spyware.
Fordpass does not connect to the truck, it connects to the FordPass servers over the internet, using the cell service that the smartphone has. What people see on the Fordpass app, like tire pressure, location, mileage, etc., is coming from the Fordpass servers that receives TCM messages over the internet from the truck. In short:

Fordpass app <---> FordPass servers <---> Maverick pickup (or any other Ford vehicle)

Starting the truck with the Fordpass app on the smartphone does not connect to the truck directly; it goes through the Fordpass server.

Theoretically, Ford could start/stop the truck without your permission, like in the case of repossession, including unlocking the truck. It does not matter, if one has the FordPass app, or not.

As for spyware.... The TCM on the vehicle does continue doing that, even if you don't have the Fordpass app on your phone. If you connect your smartphone to the infotainment system, The TCM will spy on your smartphone too...

Makes sense to me.

As for the later part yes and no. Apple Carplay and Android auto do not send data through the infotainment system the same way a Bluetooth connection does. That is part of the licensing agreement for manufactures to use those in vehicles. Likely why some of them held out on putting them in their vehicles for many years, it reduces the chance to data mine. In theory the manufacture could intercept that data before it gets to the Apple or Google software, but there is no evidence any are doing so at this point.

To the OP, sorry for detrailng from the keypad! I guess we should continue this elsewhere.

I can't take it any longer.......Cellular (modem to modem) is not Internet. The Ford Pass app uses your phone's cellular modem to connect to Ford's modem and Ford's modem connects to your vehicle's modem. It has nothing to do with the Internet, wifi, AOL etc!
