Fellas, about three months ago, I really felt like I needed a bigger truck and I made a decision to sell my 2023 Lariat 4k tow AWD Maverick. I was able to sell it for $1000 more than what I paid for it and since I only owed about two thirds, I got all my down payment back and walked away with a "zero" slate. I ended up going with a 2023 Tacoma SR5 V6 4x2 because it was the same price as the Maverick Lariat. Big Mistake. At the same price, the Taco is missing all the features and options I have come to expect in a vehicle. This Toyota is so basic and it is insane what they charge for a truck that basically has mid 80's technology in it. In hindsight, I would keep my Maverick. I really liked it. Keep 'em if you got 'em.

The only metrics that a Tacoma is bigger than a Maverick is towing and parking. An extra foot of bed and a mile of ego.

Yeah I compared their dimensions a lot a while back and was surprised how similar they were and that the Maverick had some interior advantages for sure

Not quite sure why the Maverick is called compact as it's roughly the same size as the 95 Ranger super cab I had.

Oh I so would have waited for the 2024 Tacoma to arrive in a few weeks. It is world's better. You can get a manual, and you can get an extended cab, and in a zillion trims. Still expensive. Still a foot longer if you care about that. Probably hard to get until inventory fills out.

The 2024 Tacoma is getting rave reviews. Supposedly arriving at dealers any day now.

Yeah I was really interested in the 2024 Tacoma but was concerned about MPG's and rear seat room. I was able to sit in it at the Texas state fair and that kind of killed it for me, and then the MPG's came out and knew I would be better off with the Maverick

I've done a ton of dumb things ; so don't be so hard on your self. Order a 24 Mav; maybe it will be built before 25' and sell the Taco when the Mav arrives.

Tacos keep their resale value like no other vehicle, so you can easily flip it down the road. If you think of getting a Maverick or SC down the road - I'd wait until there's a major midcycle refresh. It might be the 2025 model year? We don't really know.

Taco has the terrorist market locked up. We need a CNN clip of Hamas or al-Qaeda running across the desert in a Mav.

It is a compact in today's truck market. There is a thread here somewhere where you can see comparisons of full size trucks next to the Maverick. It is comical how small the Maverick actually is.

I wish the Maverick had a manual transmission option as well. That would be awesome. It would be even more fun to drive.

2025 is the MCE refresh. 2028 is the New Maverick.
