So I am Renting a Toyota Tacoma this week and while I like the truck overall it is a dog when it comes to accelerating. It is the 4 cylinder quad cab model so just wondering thoughts on how this might compare to following:

tacoma 4cyl vs hybrid Maverick
Tacoma 4cyl vs EB 2.0 AWD

The Tacoma is a known dog for performance. The 4cyl model has far less power than even the hybrid model. It also weighs more.

The Maverick EB has more HP, torque, and is lighter vs Tacoma 4 banger. You should be able to reach speeds quicker and merge into traffic easily.

It will probably best the V6 from a performance perspective, the Maverick's 4 banger turbo is not comparable to what most people think of when they hear 4 banger.

Yeah was assuming maverick would be better. Notice that torque and horsepower is similar to the V6 Tacoma which makes me wonder why it can only tow 4000 where Tacoma is 6800 lb max based on setup

I've owned a 2015 manual Tacoma offRoad and a 2016 auto Tacoma offRoad...both are dog slow, thus I dumped them both after 9 months.
My wife has a 2021 Bronco Sport 1.5 turbo and it knocks the socks off of the v6 tacoma. So having a 2.0 turbo (non hybrid) will be a rocket compared to a Tacoma.

It isn’t the engine that is the issue, it could probably tow 6-7k but the issue is stopping it. The Maverick is to light to tow heavier amounts

It also has to do with the transmission, the Ranger is using the F-150’s. The Maverick is using the Escape and Bronco Sport transmission.

The v6 Tacoma is a dog, too. I would not want to tow anywhere near 6800 lbs with one.
